One of the biggest "stress out" moments of a photo session is what to wear. No worries! I highly recommend you selecting at least 2 or 3 outfits that you feel really good in. Because, honestly, if you don't feel comfortable, you won't look comfortable in your amazing pictures. If you take anything away from this resource, make sure the outfits you choose fit properly. If your outfit is meant to fit oversize, go for it. If your outfit is supposed to fit-to-size, make sure it actually does that and doesn’t fit too tightly or loosely, especially when it comes to your straps, bust area, mid-section area, and hemlines.
Now, with that said, I don't recommend pajamas (though I LOVE them) or work out type clothes. I recommend picking an outfit that reflects who you are. You can choose a fairly casual outfit (jeans/cute shirt/etc.) and a more formal outfit (If you love a dress, go as fancy as you want. If you'd rather go with a fun skirt or pant and a really beautiful shirt, that works too!). In other words, what is your absolute favorite outfit in your closet? Or, an outfit that you always receive compliments about. Most of the locations in our area are fairly neutral so the more pops of color you can add in, the better. For example, a colorful pair of shoes, a beautiful necklace or scarf, a fabulous jacket/cardigan, eye catching nail polish, a super fun hat or hair accessory . . . these are all things you can add in to make your pictures even better. If you're not sure, text me (843.384.3155) a picture of what you're thinking about, and I'll gladly make suggestions!
And then there's your hair . . . I highly recommend brushing it. ;-) Straight or curly, up or down . . . that's completely up to you. As I said before, these pictures need to look like YOU. If you NEVER curl your hair, you probably don't want to curl it for the pictures either. You want people to recognize your fabulous self!! If you would rather someone else do your hair, have a friend over that's good with hair! (And then bring them along to your session if you'd like!!)) Or, if you really want to be pampered, go and have your hair done by your favorite stylist!
I do recommend that you put on a little more make up that you normally would to go out with your friends, etc. Of course, I still want these pictures to reflect who you are so if you would rather go lightly on the make-up, that's fine too! Again, if make up stresses you out, find a friend that's really good at make up and let her take over! And, if you're stressed about a stray pimple or two, I have this fabulous tool called Photoshop that will clear that up in your pictures so NO WORRIES!
Once you arrive for your session, get ready to have a FABULOUS time. We're going to have SO much fun together, and I promise that you'll have plenty of guidance from me along the way! When we're all done, give me about two weeks to have these GORGEOUS pictures ready for you to see. I usually put a sneak peek up on Instagram and/or Facebook, but if you'd rather me not, just let me know! Not a problem at all!!
