Mad Cobra hit #1 on the Billboard Rap chart in 1992 with the gold selling single "Flex". In fact he's only the second ever reggae artist to achieve that feat in over thirty years of trying. Not bad for a 26 year old who named himself after a character in the GI Joe comic books!

He was born Ewart Everton Brown in Kingston, Jamaica yet grew up in the parish of St. Mary's, only moving back to the capital in his teens where he fostered his interest in music by guesting on the Mighty Ruler, Climax and Inner City sound-systems. His uncle Delroy "Spiderman" Thompson was the engineer at Tuff Gong and in 1989 produced his first record "Respect Woman". That was followed by "Na Go Work", a duet with Tricia McKay and a small local hit. Before long Carl "Banton" Nelson and Captain Sinbad were producing him, encouraging the youngster to voice titles like "Ze Taurus", "Shoot To Kill" and "Merciless Bad Boy" in the wake of the Gulf War and Ninjaman's success with gun lyrics in the Jamaican dancehalls.

Those early tunes were snapped up by the hardcore fans and Cobra himself aroused the attention of Donovan Germain's Penthouse studio, where he teamed up with resident engineer Dave Kelly. The resulting singles "Yush", "Gundelero" and "Gun Confused" were hits; so too "Feeling Lonely" which he voiced alongside Beres Hammond. A best-selling album "Bad Boy Talk" was released in 1991 and established him as one of Jamaica's most promising dee-jay talents, albeit one who was soon in danger of excessive over-exposure.

That same year an incredible volume of his material was released. Both Spiderman and Captain Sinbad also issued albums ("Mad Cobra" and "Merciless Bad Boy" respectively), Penthouse had theirs and in the UK Jet Star compiled "Cobra Gold" which featured over a dozen of his singles for a wide variety of Jamaican producers including King Jammys ("O.P.P"), Bobby Digital ("Sex Appeal" and "Tek Him"), Sly & Robbie ("Be Patient") and Dennis Star ("Hearsay"). It was the beginning of the most prolific period in his short history.

Two further albums "Spotlight" and "Exclusive" appeared, with the latter subsequently withdrawn in the States due to the rampant homophobia of the track "Crucifixion". This before Buju Banton and Shabba Ranks attracted unpleasant publicity for the very same thing a year later. It didn't seem to do him any harm with his regular hardcore audience.

During 1991/1992 he had no less than five No.1 hits on the UK reggae charts and in one particular week had nine tunes on the Top 20! UK producers like Fashion, Mafia & Fluxy, Gussie P and Donneville Davis all recorded songs with him, so did Bee Cat in NY and also Top Rank based in JA's Montego Bay. At the height of Cobra's popularity they released the haunting "Love Fever"; evidence that he'd switched styles by chatting romantic lyrics over a rhythm owing a great deal to softer, R&B influences. Nor did the Snake stop there. At the beginning of 1992 he wrote "Flex", a love chat over a silky JA version to "Just My Imagination" which the Temptations sang back in the '60's. On the strength of this song he was signed to Columbia in the USA and within a few months he'd set new standards by topping the American national charts.

Unfortunately his follow-up with Richie Stephens "Legacy", failed to make any further impression and before too long he was back in action on the dancehall scene, despite having to endure a vicious clash with Buju Banton at the '92 Sting. Crossover success doesn't cut much ice in the ghetto areas of Kingston, not unless an artist is also cutting the musical mustard hardcore style.

Cobra wasn't, but he is now. In 1993 he returned to the dancehalls and once again could be heard booming over the sound-systems. "Mek Noise" for Red Rose & Malvo helped start the rout; "Matie Haffi Move" did further damage for Bobby Digital and "Big It Up", "Length & Bend" and "Fat & Buff" found him back at King Jammys in fine form, both for Jammy senior and his son John John.

In 2002, he was featured on the Black Shadow Records "buzz" rhythm, where his "Press Trigger" became a huge smash in the dancehalls. He later followed up with "Haunted" for Black Shadow's 20003 rhythm "surprise". "Haunted" made a huge impact on the reggae charts in New York and Miami.

The Mad Snake is back, and with a vengeance.

For years, the Chilean band Gondwana has been spreading the word of Jah Love. Emerging from the Latin root in reggae, Gondwana brings forth a fresh blend of Latin and Jamaican rhythms. With pulsating energy and a smooth sound, nine polished musicians are the soul of Chile's number one reggae band.

Songs of love, social commentary and spiritual praise, Gondwana reveals positive messages that serve as an uplifting vibration for fans of all musical genres. Spirit moving falsetto notes, bubbling bass, hard drums, tight horns and guitars with the ability to move with ease in a sound ranging from calypso to hard rock; are the skillful ingredients found in the highly acclaimed Gondwana.

Without a doubt, Gondwana is one of the most prestigious, solid reggae bands to emerge from South America. With a constant movement across the continent and an endless myriad of vibrant live shows, Gondwana continues to deliver a bullet-proof repertoire of hits and new material. The band is internationally recognized as Chile’s most successful musical act.

Already superstars in their native Chile and throughout South America, Gondwana has been gaining very enthusiastic fans throughout the world one by one. From humble beginnings in La Pincoya, a northern Santiago ghetto, to a leading position in Chilean pop music, Gondwana has remained true to their original posture, standing tall and strong in a peace-loving position of musical and lyrical creation.

Formed in 1987, Gondwana has been awarded several multi-platinum albums throughout its 24 year career. Additionally they’ve performed numerous times in what are known to be some of the most important festivals throughout the continent. Recently, Gondwana has performed at the legendary "Reggae on the River Fest" earlier in 2011 in California, "Rock Al Parque" Colombia, "Vive Latino" Mexico, "Pepsi Music Fest" Argentina, "Cosquin Rock" Argentina, "Quito Fest" Ecuador and on numerous occasions at the prestigious "Vina del Mar Festival" in Chile. Upcoming shows November 17th at The Social (www.thesocial.org) in Orlando Florida followed by “Bayside Rocks Music Fest” (www.baysiderocksfestival.com) in Miami, Florida on November 19th, sharing the stage with the legendary Bunny Wailer, the original Wailers and Cultura Profetica to name a few.

A surprising aspect of Gondwana is their notable digital activity as demonstrated by their ever-growing YouTube fan base that’s currently over 40 million views with an average of 30,000 monthly visitors accessing the band's official website www.gondwana.cl. This can only be attributed to a rarely witnessed romance between the band and its fans. The fact that the band maintains such incredible web fan base demonstrates what a massive impact the band has in order to reach millions of young hearts across the world, especially considering that the band has lacked the support from prominent producers or the support of any one of the major record labels during recent years.

At the beginning of 2011 the band released their first official best-of, titled “Pincoya Calipso” (Sony Music). The 17 re-mastered tracks are compiled from the band's catalog along with 2 new songs that are an anticipation of their new studio album scheduled for a 2012 release.

After an extensive 2011 touring schedule that included several dates in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Venezuela, Canada, Mexico and the US, Gondwana began pre-production of their upcoming new studio album (not yet titled).

The new album will be recorded at Gondwana’s own studio and will feature their new lead singer, MC Jona. Additionally Gondwana was invited to participate on 2 tracks “Could You Be Loved” & “Concrete Jungle” for the upcoming 2012 release “Tribute to Bob Marley 2” featuring MC Jona on vocals.

GONDWANA is comprised of the following members:

I-Locks Labbe on bass, MC Jona on lead vocals, Yayo Loyola on drums, Leo Dread on percussion and background vocals, Pancho Contreras on trumpet, Keno “Fingaman” Valenzuela on keyboards and background vocals, Hugo Prado on trombone, Gato Ramos on saxophone and Pez López on guitar.

Their discography has been released in several countries around the world through specialized labels, including the legendary reggae label RAS Records in Chicago. To this date, the band has already surpassed the 450,000 mark for albums sold. They’ve also had 9 platinum albums in Chile and a history of over 800 concerts worldwide.

Songs such as Sentimiento Original, Nuestros Suenos, Chainga Langa, Armonia de Amor, Antonia, Verde, Amarillo y Rojo and Dulce Amor have become classics and not only withstood the test of time, but have also broken musical boundaries attributed to their shows in 17 different countries. During the past 3 years, the 9 member band has visited numerous international stages. The US, Puerto Rico and Canadian markets should expect to see much of Gondwana throughout the 2012/2013 season.

J BOOG

J Boog is a man of many influences. The singer of Samoan descent was born in Long Beach and raised in Compton, California. Growing up in the rough streets of Compton, the strong sense of tradition and culture that J Boog absorbed from his family was instrumental in his path to stay off the

streets and begin a successful music career.

At the age of four, after hearing his older sister playing the piano, he developed an interest and started watching her and learning about music. Soon, J was singing along to the notes & melodies he heard his sister play. A while later, she brought home a Bob Marley song book. Even at this young age, J knew Bob's name and his music. Upon hearing his sister begin to play, something clicked inside J. He hasn't been the same since.

The first time J Boog performed in front of an audience, he was nine years old. It was a large family reunion at a church and there were about 200 people present. J's mother and sister insisted for him to sing Whitney Houston's "One Moment In Time" and J obliged them. Though he was nervous, it went quite well.

J Boog's music career became serious in 2005, when a couple of brothers from his neighborhood brought him to one of J's favorite artists, George "Fiji" Veikoso". The two began working together immediately and J ended up moving to Hawaii in 2006 to continue developing his craft. After releasing his debut album "Hear Me Roar" in 2007, he joined the musical family Wash House Music Inc, a record label based in Hawaii and San Francisco.

A year later, in 2008, J Boog met Gramps Morgan of Morgan Heritage and there was an instant chemistry. Gramps was keen on working with J, and set out to make a way. Shortly after, Gramps, J Boog and other Wash House family members were in Jamaica recording in such prestigious places as Bob Marley's "Tuff Gong" Studio, Don Corleone's "Hit Maker", Bobby Digital's "Digital B", Shaggy's "Big Yard", Sugar Minott's "Youth Man Promotion" and more.

The results are apparent when listening to Boog's new music. It is authentic Island Music and genuine Jamaican reggae at the same time. Truly a new and exciting combination. There is a natural theme to Boog's writing: love. It recurs throughout his work and never once seems contrived. When you listen, you will feel he truly knows matters of the heart.

These days Boog is either in a studio, on a stage or catching a flight. Radio interviews have become a daily thing and it's a little overwhelming for the young artist, though he has been smart enough to keep his humility. He has a great sense of humor and an even better sense of reality. He can be overheard saying how blessed he is on a daily basis. It's easy to see why J Boog has been winning over fans when you meet him. He has the right spirit and attitude to carry him to the next level.

J Boog's new album, "Back Yard Boogie" released on September 27th 2011, debuting at #1 on the iTunes & Billboard Reggae Charts. The album features guest performances from the likes of Peetah Morgan of Morgan Heritage, Tarrus Riley, Fiji, Spawn Breezie, Jah Maoli, and Jacob Hemphill of SOJA.

Kimie

Kimie (pronounced Kimi-ay) is a singer/songwriter from Hawaii with an eclectic musical style all her own. Her parents, of Hawaiian and Portugese decent, noticed her unmistakable talent at a very young age. "I fell in love with music as a child and it naturally just became apart of my life. It is my mother, my best friend, and my first love. No matter where I am in my life, I know I can always turn to music."

A self taught guitarist and song writer, Kimie grew as a musical artist while boarding at Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu, HI. "India.Arie inspired me to pick up a guitar when I was 14 years old and write from my heart. Other artists like Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu showed me how to be an individualist and remain true to myself."

Kimie's signature style weaves acoustic soul, reggae, hawaiian with a touch of R&B and funk, into cool sultry melodies. Her free spirit can be heard through her lyrics touching on love, life, and relationships. "When something happens in my life, whether good or bad, I can almost immediately hear it being sung to a melody. Each situation creates a different mood. The words follow." Her lyrics prove universal, spanning race, gender, and age.

Kimie has toured the west coast opening for reggae pioneer Barrington Levy. She has also collaborated with reggae's most prolific production team, Sly and Robbie, She has traveled the world, living and recording in Jamaica, Hong Kong, Tahiti and Hawai'i.

Inna Vision

Inna Vision albums have debuted top ten on iTunes, are available world wide, and are some of the most played island reggae songs on Pandora.

Inna Vision has toured consistently since 2008 performing in over 60 cities and 23 states across the U.S. They've held direct support for Tribal Seeds, Bambu Station, Fortunate Youth, Kymani Marley, Mishka, Rootz Underground, Damian Marley and more. Inna Vision performed at Las Vegas's annual Pure Aloha Festival along side Don Carlos, the 2013 California Roots Festival in front a sold out attendance of 10K fans, and in the same year performed on Reggae in the Hills with headliners Capleton and Steel Pulse.

Inna Vision has been considered one of Hawaii's foundation roots reggae bands with the overall message promoting love from Hawaii to the world. Keep your ears out for Inna Vision's fourth full length album set to drop summer 2014.

Emerging from the backyards of Waipahu, Hawaii, Rebel Souljahz began as four friends born with a drive to perform. They started singing acapella together in high school, later developing into a full band where they quickly built a name for themselves performing at parties and in the clubs of Honolulu.

Their debut effort, Nothing To Hide, teams the boys of Rebel Souljahz (Mike Maglinti, Will Su’a, Bubba Hodges and Kulani Cozo) with producer/arranger Imua Garza (Opihi Pickers, Kaipo, Kawao) for a full-blown all original island music extravaganza.

With standout tracks like “Darling Angel”, “Nothing To Hide” and “The One”, the music of Rebel Souljahz will quickly appeal to mainstream island music enthusiasts and lovers of Hawaii’s local island reggae.

The groups signature vocal sound can be heard on the ballad “I’m Not The Man For You” featuring the sweet tenor lead vocals of Will Su’a juxtaposed against the rough soulful lead vocals of Mike Maglinti and then augmented by the tight harmonies of Bubba Hodges and Kulani Cozo.
