Children's Ministry

Collide Kids Online - A disciple is a learner, but in this three-part series kids will learn that being a disciple of Jesus means much, much more. He is not only our teacher, but also our Lord. Jesus still invites us to be His disciples (even children!), and choosing to follow Him means we can have a big impact on our world.

Grab your kid(s) and spend 25 minutes together singing, dancing, laughing, and learning! We would love for you to also have your child(ren) memorize this week's scripture verse and motions and upload a video of them in the comment section under the video on the CLC Facebook page! Have a great week, Collide Kids!

Please look for our youth holding soup pots at church this Sunday. They are participating in the yearly outreach program called Souper Bowl of Caring. They will be collecting monetary donations for the local organization The Brightside Project ~ Food for Kids. Give whatever you can to help support the monthly food giveaway that invites children
to choose food and personal care items to take home.

If you aren't coming to church in-person and still want to donate, please mail your donation to Common Ground or drop it off here during the week.

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"Sun is shining here in Ohio. Still a little cold but the sunshine seems to make things a little better. Which transitions right into my Word for the week."

“LIGHT” – one definition I found I love – to become or cause to become animated or cheerful. Wow, that says it all! We are God’s “light.” We are to be “light” to all we meet. We can be a “light” in so many ways. We can be “light” to someone with our encouraging words and deeds. We can be “light” to those who may need prayer. “Light” can reflect off us and cause darkness to disappear. We can stand in a dark place and strike a match and instantly “light” changes the atmosphere. Oh, I pray our “light” will change someone’s atmosphere. We are to be a “light” that should not be hidden. Let us shine our “light” for all to see. Let us use our “light” for that divine appointment God has in store for us. We can let our “light” shine to guide others to the hope and healing that is in Christ Jesus. Let us shine our “light” to be a testimony of God’s blessings, protection, and goodness to others. Shine bright beacons of “light.”

"I pray the Holy Spirit teaches us more ways to shine our “light” to others. Have a blessed week."

Do everything readily and cheerfully -- no bickering, no second-guessing allowed! Go out into
the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people
with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night
so I will have good cause to be proud of you on the day that Christ returns. You will be living
proof that I didn’t go to all this work for nothing.
~ Philippians 2:15-16 (MSG)

News of the Week

We began this week with a snow day, so all our GG folks stayed home and stayed safe on Monday. The rest of the week we worked on a variety of tasks - shoveling snow, cleaning the kitchen, dusting the library, taking care of creatures, working in the greenhouse, and more. Yesterday we even spent some time playing in the snow! You're never too old to build a snowman!

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.

Matthew 25: 35-36, 40

Shelter pets are patient, loving, kind — and great listeners. We are pleased to announce that “Rescue Readers,” our Reading to Shelter Pets program is going virtual and now includes grades 1 to 8. The program began on February 3, 2021 and will take place every Wednesday evening in February.

Reading to a shelter pet can help build a child’s confidence. Plus, it’s a great way to help parents who may be looking for ways to keep kids engaged with their studies. To learn more or sign up, please go here: Rescue Readers
