We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week! | Encouragement Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement. "I pray your week has been blessed so far. God is certainly showing us His beautiful glory in the changing of the seasons. The sunsets have been spectacular as well as the sunrises! I pray my eyes are always engaged in noticing His beauty all around us." "That brings me to this week’s Word, “MOVING.” Something my husband posted on FB this week really made me take notice. “If you are going to ask God to guide your footsteps, be willing to move your feet.” Yowzah! What have we been dragging our feet about? I can tell you for me – there is a lot! Made me think about the Israelites at the Red Sea – Moses told them we need to get “moving.” As soon as they started across – God did the “moving” of the water. Obedience is a big key in “moving.” I pray the Holy Spirit will reveal in each one of us what we need to get “moving” about. Open the eyes of our heart, dear Jesus, and reveal what we need to be “moving” about and getting done. Let us see what you want us to see. And once we see it – let us get “moving” to achieve all you have for us to do. There are so many hurting people in the world right now. Let’s get “moving” to reach out to them. Let’s get “moving” and let our faith rise in us as we do our Father’s work. Let’s get “moving” and accomplish much for His kingdom! Let’s get “moving” higher in Him together!" Now that we know what we have - Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God - let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all - all but the sin. So, let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help. ~ Hebrews 4:15-16 (MSG) | September Worship ~ Online & In-Person Pastor Mike Hileman ~ Sundays at 11:00am Join us at church or online via Facebook Live: Connecting Life We're excited to welcome you to Worship, in church and online! | Church Goodness Grows Work Day October 9, 9:30am Handy volunteers needed to help install our new wet wall! ~~~ | Coat & Clothing & More Giveaway 2021 Saturday, October 16, 10am-1pm For the first time ever, in the warehouse! ~~~ | Freezer Meal Prep Watch for a date and time to be announced. | www.goodnessgrows4all.org Our Mission Statement: To cultivate personal, social, and community growth through gardening, education, and opportunity for people of all abilities. ~~~ | News of the Week This week we have spent a lot of time outside working in the raised beds and gardens. We have been getting areas ready for winter and planting cover crops to enrich our soil and lessen erosion. It is an interesting point in the season, with some crops still growing and others finished and ready to be cleaned out. On Tuesday, we headed to Huffman Fruit Farm to do some apple picking. We had a fun time and highly recommend that you take a trip out and have some fall fun in the orchard! After that, we were busy working outside and then washing tomatoes and tomatillos that we picked Monday, getting ready for CSA goodies. Yesterday was a kitchen day. We made jam, salsa verde, tomato salsa, and caramel corn. It was controlled chaos, full of delicious scents and tastes. Plus we were visited by our friends Sue Weaver and Sally Carrier! We love visitors! Today we are so excited to share our fresh-made goodies with all of our CSA subscribers. It is so hard to believe that tonight is the final pick-up day for our Bi-Weekly folks. Next week we will get to see our Weekly people one last time and then CSA season 2021 will be over. Then we start looking ahead to CSA 2022! Today is Taco Thursday, thanks to Pastor Mike and Stacy. We can't wait until lunch! Last week we enjoyed smoked goodies, so we are eager to try this week's exciting creation! Everyone enjoys having Mike spend lunchtime with us...and Stacy is a bonus treat today! | Jungle Jam & Juicy Jam Jungle Jam and Juicy Jam are available in several flavors at Reach for the STARS in Salem as well as in Columbiana at the Columbiana Chamber of Commerce office. We are also very glad to arrange a jam pick up at GG. Jungle Jam: Blueberry Jalapeno, Hot, Cherry Habanero, Peach Habanero, and our new flavor ~ Dragon Jungle Jam Juicy Jam: Peach Lemonade | Donations of Jam Supplies Needed If you are looking for a way to help Goodness Grows, donating needed items is a huge help! We are currently in need of: 8oz. Canning Jars (Regular) Canning Jar Lids * Sugar And, of course, monetary donations are always appreciated. We are truly grateful for your support to keep our mission growing! Note from GG Treasurer, Jill Snyder ~ Cook's Corner in Columbiana often has the best prices for canning jars. Lately, prices are up and canning supply shelves are frequently empty. Please don't pay more than $10 for 12 jars...and Cook's has had them cheaper than that. We can use plain or quilted regular mouth 8oz. jars. Thank you! | Do You Eat Eggs? If you eat eggs, you can help us out! We are looking for two things ~ Egg Cartons and Egg Shells. If you have extra cartons, please leave them at the front desk. Our egg lady will put them to good use. If you would like to help feed our fields and gardens, saving your egg shells is a wonderful way to do that. When you are creating kitchen delights that involve eggs, just take an extra bit of time to rinse your egg shells, put them aside to dry, and then pop the dry shells into a bag or container and bring them in to church. These can also be left at the front desk for us. Eggshells improve soil by adding calcium, reducing acidity, helping to aerate the soil, and helping newly planted plants thrive. | OUTREACH and MISSION OPPORTUNITIES | Goodness Grows The non-profit ministry of Common Ground Church Community, Goodness Grows is always busy on our property.
