Doubt: A Parable

by John Patrick Shanley
Directed by Mike Darbon

Thurs 19th - Sun 22nd Nov at 7.45pm (in the Bar)

In 1964 New York, Sister Aloysius Beauvier, principal of St. Nicholas School, uses fear and discipline to control both her pupils and staff. Parish priest and popular teacher, Father Flynn, follows a more relaxed approach. When the young and impressionable Sister James shares her suspicion with Sister Aloysius that Father Flynn might be paying too much attention to the school's only black pupil, she sets off a battle of wills between nun and priest that becomes a full-on crusade on the part of the hard-line Sister to rid the school of the liberal-minded Father.

John Patrick Shanley’s drama is the most decorated play on Broadway, with a total of 24 awards. So definitely not to be missed!

The Ladykillers

by Graham Linehan
Directed by Mike Savill

Fri 4th - Sat 12th December at 7.45pm

Posing as musicians, a gang rent rooms in the house of Mrs Wilberforce, a sweet little old lady, plotting to involve her as an unwitting stooge in a heist job. But their plans go very wrong and events unravel with darkly hilarious results...

Based on the famous Ealing comedy (since reworked by the Coen Brothers in 2005), this multi-Olivier nominated adaptation by Graham Linehan (Father Ted, The IT Crowd) infuses the classic 1950s film with a modern day pace, punch and sensibility.

Blithe Spirit

by Noël Coward
Directed by Stevie Hughes

Fri 15th – Sat 23rd January 2016 at 7.45pm

As research for his next novel, Charles Condomine engages a medium, Madame Arcati, to conduct a séance but inadvertently, she raises the ghost of his late, first wife, Elvira. For Ruth – Charles’s current wife – Elvira’s resurrection is no laughing matter, particularly since the neurotic spirit seems only too eager to reclaim her husband – whether it be in this world or the next.

Noël Coward is one of the truly great comic writers of British theatre and his trademark sharp wit, piercing eye for relationships and unforgettable characters are in abundance in this comedy classic.

BLT goes public: what it means for you

From January 2016 BLT is changing its Premises Licence.

This means that for the first time ever, non-members (ie, the general public) can buy tickets for our Main House shows at £12 (Members will still pay just £8).

So what else is changing? Here’s your at-a-glance guide:

• Members will now enjoy a three-month ‘priority’ booking period before each show. Non-members will be able to book about one month before.

• Guests will no longer need to be signed in.

• Bar show tickets remain ‘members only’, but members can still bring guests.

Members’ priority booking for our January show ‘Blithe Spirit’ is already open.

But for the first time in BLT’s history the general public will also be able to buy tickets from 15th December!

So be sure to tell your friends the news. Better still, why not get them to join and enjoy all the benefits of being a BLT member?

Annual membership is still just £16 for a single adult, £25 for a couple, £35 for a family and only £6 for juniors under 16 and students in full time education. See the BLT website for full details.
