Rest

The mystery of God’s ways is sometimes hidden from the wise and intelligent. Jesus associates with the lowly and outcast. Like Paul, we struggle with our own selfish desires and seek God’s mercy and forgiveness. We gather to be refreshed by Christ’s invitation: “Come to me, all you that are weary.” Gathered around word, water, and meal, we find rest for our souls.

655 West Badger Road

Madison, WI 53713

Dr. Christy Clark-Pujara

The esteemed Dr. Christy Clark-Pujara will be delivering a lecture on July 10th from 6p-8p on the history of slavery in the U.S. If you attended the U.S. Black History Class this year, you are already familiar with Dr. Clark-Pujara. If you've never had the chance to attend one of her lectures, you are in for a treat. She goes beyond a mere teaching of history but brings it to life with vivid images and expert delivery.

This is a perfect event to bring friends and family that didn't get a chance to go to the U.S. Black History Class, and a chance to receive fresh knowledge for those who did. This is a free event and we will have to cap off the number of spots at 250, so register today and reserve your seats!

If you are interested in buying Dr. Clark-Pujara's book, Dark Work: The Business of Slavery in Rhode Island (Early American Places), let us know that when you RSVP.

All Sundays in July

LELC is responsible for delivering meals all of the Sundays in July. We need 2 people to deliver each Sunday. One person drives and the other is the navigator. Meals are picked up at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 5101 Schofield Street, Monona at 11:30AM. Enter the parking lot between the church and the school. The Market Street Diner van will be parked in a small lot to the right by the school. There is a shed next to the school in that same parking lot. Please put empty carriers in the shed. If you are running late, your meals will be in the shed. We are assigned route # 5. Please DO NOT take a different route. You will be given 2 delivery carriers. One for the hot food items and one for the cold food items. Each meal is labeled with the client’s first initial, last name and address. Do a quick count to be sure you have the same number of meals as is indicated on the upper right corner of your route sheet. For more information, call Lil Genskow at 224-0465, or Chris Maloney Dull at 358-5240. Thank you!

Gifts Committee: Matching Gifts Needed

gift hands

At the recent congregational meeting, two special initiatives were approved to be funded through the gifts committee:
1) part time youth pastor for the next year
2) repair of the front rock wall and improving drainage near the front door to prevent water from reaching our elevator shaft and basement hallway.

The Gifts Committee will match donations to these projects. Please check the bulletin and June Dialogue for details about how you can contribute to these important initiatives.

As always, thank you for your support of these types of special initiatives through the gifts committee. Jim St. Vincent, Chairperson, Gifts Committee
