Gift Ideas for Quilters + Patchwork Trees

Greetings Quilty Friends!

I hope those of you who celebrated Thanksgiving here in the US enjoyed a safe and healthy holiday.

This week I updated my list of favorite Gifts to Make for or Give to Quilters. I'm sending out my newsletter a little earlier in the day this week, since it's sales-palooza this weekend, and I've included links to lots of shops who are having great markdowns this weekend.

I know that many of you have quilting friends who love a handmade gift. This list also has lots of ideas of gifts you can make for fellow-quilters including ideas like cute pin cushions, thread-catchers, or magnetic pin bowls!

If you don't have time this year to tackle a big Patchwork Forest quilt, may I suggest a mini quilt version?

This was the first tree quilt I made and it was so fun and satisfying.

A super fun way to play with some of your favorite Christmas fabrics for a quick finish.

Fun Finds on the Web this week:

Kristina at Center Street Quilts released a this festive Joy foundation paper-pieced pattern this week. This block and all of her other patterns are on sale this weekend.

Use leftover scraps and precuts to make a quilted fabric Countdown to Christmas Chain using this pattern by Holly of Maker Valley (also on sale this weekend).

Speaking of scraps, Sachiko of Tea Rose Home shows how to make the cutest little Mod Podge Christmas tree using Liberty Scraps.

This week I took some time to think more about gratitude in the context of this super weird year of 2020.

There are so many small things that I have always taken for granted that I have come to appreciate so much more.

Especially simple things like getting together with family and friends, or the ability to use my own hands to create.

One of the things I'm most grateful in my life is ALL OF YOU. Thank you for all of the kind words, encouragement, and support you show me. I am SO thankful for all of you fellow-quilt-friends!

And thank you for your patience with me when I put in the wrong links, make a mistake in my tutorials, don’t respond to emails as quickly or efficiently as I’d like, etc. This year I’ve felt extra scatter-brained and unhelpful. (I chalk that up to hitting my surge-capacityas well as becoming a home-school mom, and NEVER BEING ALONE in my house for the past 11 months. My brain misses quiet time! It’s learning to adapt, but still I miss the ability to think straight some days. Not that I was always great at it before.)

Last of all, I’m grateful for hope and perspective. This year has taught be a lot about both and finding those from within. I’ve still got a lot to learn, but I’m grateful for all of the people on this journey with me.

Sending love and best wishes in your own journeys this year.

I’m pulling for you. xo
