Working to preserve the land west of Lake Waubesa from poorly planned development

Dear Friend,

A few days ago we send out an e-newsletter (click here to read it) about the upcoming public meeting about the construction and demolition landfill on Hwy MM in NE Fitchburg. Within a few hours, an energetic reader had contacted us with some relevant information about Larry J. Jokipii, who intends to crush and recycle the asphalt and concrete there.

You need to know this info before you go to the public meeting this Thursday, Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. at the Fitchburg Public Library, upstairs conference room, 5530 Lacy Rd.

Is this the kind of person you want to deal with?

What could possibly go wrong?

Mr. Jokipii says he plans to create a buildable site for an office park once he has finished crushing all the cement and asphalt.

* Do you trust him to create a stable site that will not subside?

* Do you trust him to take care that pollutants do not get into the ground water while grinding up cement in the 150 ft. deep pit?

* Do you trust him to not cut corners, to always keep the environment and the neighbors his first priority?
