Welcome Back Mountain Lions!

We hope everyone had a wonderful summer and that we're all ready for the first day of school! Whether you are new or returning to Mills, we are so happy to have you with us this year.

The Mills PTA is a key part of the school. PTA funds help pay for copier fees, staff appreciation events, landscaping, movie nights, dances, and so much more. We encourage everyone to join the PTA and to be an active part of this wonderful organization whose only purpose is to make our school even more amazing than it already is. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Here's to a great start of the 2019-2020 school year!

Be a part of the school community. Join Mills PTA!

PTA is focused on making child’s potential a reality by strengthening education and taking a comprehensive approach to community success. And we know there is no commYOUnity without YOU - our members, our business leaders, our decision-makers. It’s not just Moms and Dads who can join PTA but Grandparents are welcome too. All of you are creating a valued partnership between family, educators, and children. Being part of the PTA connects families and schools and allows parents to help make the school better. Whether you are just a member, a volunteer, a committee head or a board member - we welcome your ideas and look forward to having YOU as a member! Volunteer where you want, when you can or even just provide financial support. We are hoping to reach a goal of 440 members!

Hello World is a computer science / coding program comprised of engineers from companies including Amazon, Apple, and Facebook. All courses are taught by professional software engineers, AI architects, and data scientists and are modeled after college computer science courses, particularly those at Rice University, a partnering institution.

To learn more, join Hello World for their Information Session on Tuesday, August 27th @ 3:15pm OR 5:00pm (choose one option) at the Mills Elementary School Library.

This semester’s after-school program is centered on two subjects for all students – Game Engineering and Web Development. See more details on the Mills Elementary School Program Flyer. This semester's two off-site events include a Student Startup Crawl where students will engage directly with leaders and engineers across various high-tech companies in downtown Austin, and the Student Demo Day at Google offices also in downtown Austin.

We strongly encourage girls to join the program! Please reach out to molly@helloworldstudio.org with any questions.
