Please keep her in your prayers and take a moment to look toward the coming Thanksgiving holiday with the encouragement below. A Prayer for Thanksgiving Day By Debbie McDaniel “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness, come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God, it is he who made us, and we are his, we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise, give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good; his love endures forever, his faithfulness continues through all generations.” ~ Psalm 100:1-5 All across our nation, Thanksgiving is a day that we set aside in order to do one thing: Be thankful. And usually what goes along with it, is lots of food, family and friends, laughter and fun, times of giving to others in need, maybe some football, or traditions that you’ve recognized through long years. And sometimes too, there is also loneliness. And struggle. Or deep loss. Feelings of hurt and painful circumstances that you’re still trying to hurdle over. Whatever you’re facing this Thanksgiving Day, in the midst of all of it, may we remember again that God gives us the opportunity each and every day, to give worship and thanks to Him. Every morning He gives us breath, is His invitation to come joyfully into His Presence. He reminds us that He alone is God and we belong to Him. He assures us that His plans in our lives are for good, that his love covers us securely, and His faithfulness extends from generation to generation. No matter what, He’s given us so many reasons to choose thankfulness and joy this day. Let’s do what the Psalmist of this great chapter says - Shout for joy. - Worship the Lord with gladness. - Come before Him with joyful songs. - Know that He is God. - Enter His gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. - Give thanks to Him and praise His name. - Recognize His goodness, love, and faithfulness, through all the generations of our family. Dear God, thank you for your goodness and for your blessings over our lives. Forgive us for when we don't thank you enough, for who you are, for all that you do, for all that you've given. We’re so grateful to you for your amazing love and care, for your mercy and grace, for always working on our behalf, even behind the scenes when we’re unaware. Thank you that you are always with us and will never leave us, even through loss and the most difficult of times. Thank you for your incredible sacrifice so that we might have freedom and life. Help us to set our eyes and our hearts on you afresh. Renew our spirits, fill us with your peace and joy, this Thanksgiving Day and every day. We give you thanks and praise, for You alone are worthy! In Jesus' Name, Amen. | New Devotionals Available Our Daily Bread's Christmas devotional - Celebrating Jesus - has arrived, as has the December/January/February Our Daily Bread booklet. Each day is different here at Goodness Grows! This week started out chilly but very cheerfully. Kelly joined us to work, Morgan and Tucker came for lunch, and Mike Ashby stopped in for a visit. We love having friends hang out with us! We spent a lot of time working in the back greenhouse, hammering nails and cleaning up. Tuesday and Wednesday saw us spending time bending more nails in the greenhouse, moving stuff to the warehouse, raking and mulching leaves, and giving Tori's new SSA a tour of GG. The warmer weather on Wednesday made it feel like spring again! Today we will be working on catnip toys, herbs, and cleaning. Next week is a short week for us. GG and the church will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday and Friday. We are all looking forward to doing the Christmas decorating on Wednesday. You are certainly invited to join in with us on the holiday fun that morning! | We Are Collecting... GG is collecting egg shells, egg cartons, and coffee grounds. We hope this finds you well and ready to enjoy this season, celebrating Thanksgiving and Christ's birth. Unfortunate news! Please pray for the unrest in Uganda. Got word this morning that there have been several bombings in and around the Kampala area over the last few weeks. Many have been injured and several killed. As far as we know, all of our people are safe at this time. We do have several students at universities in Kampala. Please pray a hedge of protection to be around them. We do thank you all for your faithful support in 2021. We have been able to help many families this year and we praise God for blessing the ministries. Times have been tough in the US and Uganda. Loved ones were lost to COVID. Food and other supplies have been in short supply. Lockdowns were tough for all, but especially the children. Some have not attended school in a year and a half. Yet God has cared and looked after all of us, supplying many blessings. Donations did not drop off. In fact, we have new donors and many have sent extra monies due to the needs. At this time, schools will open in January and Divine is gearing up for that. Please pray that we will not suffer any more closures, so that the kids may continue their education and plans for the future. Divine was provided sufficient monies to purchase two used vans to transport kids for school. We are so thankful to Connecting Life and Common Ground for supporting this project. We pray the vans will get lots of use in 2022. They are better suited to handle the rough terrain around Masaka. Please pray for safety for all and that the vans will successfully meet the needs. Christmas will be here very soon. If any of you wish to send money for Christmas gifts, please see that I receive your money before the end of November. I will wire funds for support and gifts December 1, 2021. Thank you! We are planning a trip to Uganda in January 2022 and then again in July. I really need someone to travel with me in January since we cannot get David's dialysis supplies into Uganda at this time. Please pray about this situation. Anyone interested in escaping the cold for a couple weeks? The trip in July is open for those interested in serving in any way. There are some teachers interested in going to do mentoring and team teaching, since school will be open. Please join us. There are always plenty of kids and families to help and encourage. Thank you all for your love, prayers, and donations to keep Divine Ministries growing. RKU channels money to Pius for his growing evangelism ministry. None of the children's support money goes to his ministry. We keep the monies given for evangelism, tracts, and bibles separate from school monies. God blesses your faithfulness in support abundantly. Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!! | Coat & Clothing (& More!) Giveaway 2022 Collecting for 2022 has begun!
