Rope Mill 4 and 10 Mile Trail Run Racer Update - FINAL RACE UPDATE and RACE DAY PROCEDURES

Thank you for registering for our upcoming Trail Run at Rope Mill Park on August 1st. Please make sure you have read our new race day protocol before the race - a few points I'd like to highlight/reiterate:

1. Make sure you bring your signed waiver when you come pick up your number/swag. You need to turn in a signed waiver to receive a race number. If you are picking up for a friend/spouse, you must bring a waiver signed by them to pick up their items. CLICK HERE FOR EVENT WAIVER

2. Optional early packet pickup is outdoors at BLANKETS CREEK TRAILS: 2261 Sixes Rd, Canton, GA 30114 on Thursday 7/30 from 4 to 7 pm (RECOMMENDED). The parking lot may be pretty full due to youth MTB team practice, so feel free to park at River Church and walk over...it is rougly the same distance. Please wear a mask or face covering.

3. The 4 mile / 10 mile split for this race is the finish arch. All runners will run back under the finish arch after completing the Mill Trails on the north side of Little River. After passing under the arch, 4 mile runners will be finished and should exit to the right near the pavilion. 10 mile runners pass under arch and continue up the hill towards the bathrooms and onto the Avalanche Trail.

4. 10 mile runners who wish to use their own water bottles/nutrition/small cooler may stage these items pre-race at the aid station, which is just to the left of the bathrooms. This is 4.5 miles into the 10 mile course.

5. There have been vehicle break-ins reported at Rope Mill Park in recent months. I would recommend leaving your wallet or purse at home and just bring your license and minimal cards/cash. Hide them somewhere other than the center console, glove box, etc.

RACE PROCEDURES

▪ Make sure your race bib is pinned on your FRONT - do not bend the foam timing chip
▪ You may start the race anytime between 6:45 am and 8 am, so just walk up to the start, wait at the next available cone and wait for directions. The event will be Time Trial Format - you may start with friends, but groups need to be smaller than ten. YOU MUST START BEFORE 8 AM - NO LATE STARTS. Your time starts when you cross over the start/finish mats.
▪ No pre-race group meeting - This email serves as your pre-race meeting and instructions.
▪ No Aid Station on 4 mile course - short course runners must be self sufficient and carry their own water. There will be a Hammer Gel and Fizz included in each race bag.
▪ "Emergency Only" Aid Station on 10 mile course - We recommend all 10 mile runners carry their own calories and fluids, however we WILL have bottled water and Hammer Gels available at Mile 4.5 if you run out or get into trouble. If you take anything from the aid station, you MUST place it in the trash - bottles need to be fully emptied before being put in the trash. No throwing bottles or trash on the ground. Hand sanitizer will be available at the aid station.
▪ Do not litter anywhere on the course - penalty is a DQ
▪ Course will be well marked with pink ribbons and pink/black arrow signs at turns. Pink ribbons indicate the direction you want to head and are also used to designate that you are on-course if it has been a while in between turns. Course marshals will be positioned throughout the course for your safety. Yellow signs are used at short/long course split and wrong way locations.
▪ All runners will complete rougly 4.5 miles on the Mill Trails and then head back through the finish arch. 4 mile runners will be done at this point and 10 mile runners will continue to the Avalanche Trail.
▪ Give other folks not in your family/running group at least 6' spacing while at the race venue and while out on the trail.
▪ ANNOUNCE if you are passing to groups/runners ahead and say PASSING RIGHT or PASSING LEFT and give them a chance to move to the side. WORK TOGETHER, BE NICE and give each other lots of space out on the trails.
▪ Once finished, please do not congregate near the finish line. Rope Mill has a lot of space to spread out, so please find your own safe space.
