Time of Abrupt Shifting and Transformation + the Fire Drummers Drummed for Us!...

Holy wow... you never know when life will throw a curve ball at you...

At the beginning of January, my partner and i received notice to move from the lovely home we've called home over the last few years.

This notice came out of nowhere and we certainly weren't expecting it. The owners informed us that their lives had shifted and they needed to move back in the space we've been renting.

Whoa! Now?

Of course when something like this happens, it's never good timing... We were shocked... and i know i went through the many phases of that shock... not knowing where we'll be next is a big part of that...

And so, we are now in the throes of packing up our home and squeezing it all into cardboard boxes... searching for a new place to live while at the same time keeping the balance of work and daily life...

Not long after hearing, we chose to offer a despacho ceremony... to offer our gratitude for the time we have had here in this beautiful space and community... and to offer our intentions of what and where we wish to land in our new home - wherever that will be...

There are many types of despachos offered in the Andean cosmology and daily life...

The 'despacho gift' we chose to create in ceremony was an ayni/gratitude gift for our blessed earth mother, Pachamama.... (see our photo above).

Flowers, leaves and combustible ingredients like grains, aromatic dried plants and sweets are added in layers on top of a piece of wrapping paper.

Every item is 'prayed through' and holds meaning as it is placed mindfully in mandala form.

When the despacho is complete, it is wrapped up, just like a gift, tied with a ribbon and then offered to a sacred fire for transformation to the light - to be freely given away to the helping spirits and mother earth - to give thanks in right relationship (ayni)...

Wherever crows are, there is magic... crows are symbols of creation and spiritual strength... they remind us to look for opportunities to create and manifest the magic of life. Crows are messengers calling to us about the creation and magic that is alive within our world everyday and available to us...

Crow teaches us about change... crow lives in the void and has no sense of time and space... crows connect at the same time with the past, present and future... crow merges light and darkness - seeing both inner and outer reality.

Crows are also very resourceful, industrious and incredibly smart...

This night of the full moon, we will journey with help of the magical crow to pause and reflect on how we see the 'laws' of Great Spirit in relation to the laws of humanity. The teachings of crow help us speak or 'caw' right out loud with a strong powerful voice when addressing issues that seem out of harmony, out of balance, out of whack or unjust.

When we allow our personal integrity to be our own guide, our sense of feeling alone will vanish... our personal heart-will can then emerge so that we can stand in our truth of who we truly are. Crow teaches us to be mindful of our opinions and actions... to be willing to walk our talk and speak our truth... to also know our life's mission by balancing our past, present and future self.

We can choose to 'shape-shift' our old realities, let go of the old stories that no longer serve us or our outer worlds... we can choose to hop into and create our future self from this present moment of alignment. Crow is here to help guide us to bend the physical laws so we can dream the world we choose into being - to a shape-shifted world of peace.

I have been offering sacred drum circles and sacred drum birthing workshops for many years...

...and sometimes i hear folk say, that now they hold and carry a sacred drum, they really don't know what to do with it. They mention that their sweet drum sits in a corner untouched or un-played...
