Goodbye 2014, Hello Dancing!

Hi Dancers,
Well, another year has swiftly come and gone. I hope you've enjoyed some happy times these past 12 months, both on the dance floor and off.

This is my last communication as Boise's USA Dance Chapter President, but lucky for you you'll be hearing a lot more from me since I'm now the Outreach/PR Chairperson for the chapter...and just try to shut me up when Mad Hot for Ballroom and National Ballroom Dance Week roll around. Even luckier for you, the new board has elected Dr. Mark Kimsey as the new president of the chapter. Mark and the rest of us board members are going to try hard to make 2015 the most dance-tastic year in Boise history.

Here's a quick rundown of who's who on the board in case you missed the membership meeting and elections that were held December 6th. Members of USA Dance voted the 9 board members in, and then the officers were elected from within the board during the board meeting December 14th.

Officers

President - Mark Kimsey

Vice President - David Wright

Secretary - Corrine Christ

Treasurer - Jerry Allen

Board Members at Large

Bruce Weathered

Debora House

Erin Retelle

Frank Fraser

Harmon Avera

Another development in the USA Dance hierarchy is that I have been elected by the National Executive Committee to serve as the Regional Director for our district, District 1. District 1 includes 11 chapters in 7 states. My job will be to work with and support chapter presidents and boards in the district, help facilitate the formation of new chapters, and to act as a liaison between Chapter leaders and National. I will also be a voting member on the Social Dance Council.

Once again I'd like to thank the board members who served with me during my years as president (and the years before that)! Thanks also to all the dancers who attended our dances and helped pitch in when we needed it, and a big thank-you to our talented professional instructors who taught us all so much over the past several years.

Save me a dance in 2015!
Happy New Year,
Erin
