Dear High Plain Emmaus Community,
It’s that time again for a newsletter. I would like to start off by thanking you for being part of such an awesome community. Also, I send special thanks to First Baptist Church in Portales for hosting our January meeting. It was great to see each of you share gifts and prayers for Bart Phillips, Larry Mitchell and all members of the Men’s Walk #38 pilgrims/team. It was the best walk ever and I can’t wait to hear from the participants. Their stories remind me of why I love Emmaus. Lastly, I want to take this opportunity to thank Jeremy Berry for his fourth day talk. You (Jeremy), Winston and your family serve as a great inspiration to me and many others.
I want to encourage each of you to be involved, or to become more involved in the agape love of a walk. Please let us be more observant of the prayer and agape books. Take a moment to sign up for times of prayer or for the items that are needed to make a walk work. There is also a place for pillow agape sign up.
The board is looking into a way to take this to an online signup. Please be patient with us as we work through the kinks on this. I realize there are folks who want to be involved but do not want to serve on a team. This is a FANTASTIC way for you to serve without speaking to the pilgrims directly. It is also an awesome way for past lay directors to continue to be very active in our community to guide people such as myself in our walks. Your knowledge is invaluable.
Our next walk is Women’s Walk #53 with Shandra McIntosh as Lay Director and Robert Kirby as Spiritual Director. As I write this there are 16 pilgrims, so we still need to ask and encourage others to have this amazing experience. Let us all fill the church on Tuesday to pray over this team and continue to pray for them as the walk is February 27 to March 1, 2020. Remember, candlelight will be held at 8 pm CST and 7pm MST at Amherst Methodist Church. Closing will be held there as well at 4 pm CST and 3 pm MST.
I hope to see you at Central Baptist Church, Clovis, NM on February 4, 2020. Come join us in worship, fellowship, and our fourth day talk. Don’t forget your dish for potluck fellowship that follows.
