LEAH ANDREWS

It is with a great deal of sadness that I inform you of the death of Leah Andrews, daughter of Peg Wilson and Bob Andrews, sister of Luke. Leah died in a car accident near Rochester, NY, on Saturday morning. Leah was a graduate of KCS and RIT, and was working in her field in Rochester. Arrangements are pending.

DUMP SITE

So, when you need to dump your trash, apparently the place to do it is along any of our most beautiful roads. This particular dump site is along the Whiteface Memorial Highway. If one walks this road, one will see many cigarette butts gracing the side of the road as you enjoy the view of the couches, mattresses and other garbage in the woods just off the road. Hmmm….

NEW TRAIL

Seth and I tried out a new trail for our hike today. It is a lovely walk through a beautiful open forest with occasional glades and small brooks. The trial ends at a rocky outlook with a panoramic view of Whiteface and Dix (?) and Giant (?). It is a very easy trail and it is about 2 miles total. We found an old wood road which we followed on the way back. It came out at the North Pole. The trailhead is unmarked but is about 1/2 mile on the right after you turn off Whiteface Hwy and on to the road to Franklin Falls. It is before the trail to Cooper Kiln Pond.
