SUNDAY WORSHIP

April 19, Sunday Morning
All Ages, All Walks of Life, Friends Welcome!

10 am: BELOVED COMMUNITY IN WORSHIP
Please plug in and log on as the Community Church of Durham gathers online for Sunday worship this week. As we do, our Easter faith becomes an Easter practice: a daily walk with God and one another, shaped by grace and deep compassion. This week's celebration includes a special "Hope & Peace Art Challenge" from our 4th and 5th Graders, and an opportunity to contribute to our unfolding hospitality mission with immigrants soon to be released from detention in Dover.

Curious about readings and themes: check out John 20:19-29. What kind of peace, what kind of courage does Jesus offer to disciples "in lock-down"?

COFFEE HOUR!

11 am: INTERACTIVE FELLOWSHIP TIME
This week, for the first time, we're inviting any interested to our online Sunday Coffee Hour! This will be a chance to see the faces and hear the voices of friends and neighbors, after we've heard the benediction and postlude for Sunday's service.

If you'd like to join us for this 30 minute 'check-in'--with your coffee or juice in hand--you'll need to log out of the worship webinar...and then onto this Zoom meeting.

SUNDAY SCHOOL INVITE

We celebrate an intergenerational community of spirit, learning and dynamic service. HOPE AND PEACE CHALLENGE!

Collaborating with Pastor Dave, our 4th and 5th grade youth invite any and all to participate in the Hope & Peace Challenge. Create a 2D or 3D piece of art that somehow embodies what hope and peace mean to you and your family or friends. We're hoping to include many, many of your pictures in our online service Sunday, May 10. Email a picture of your creation to Kristin or Pastor Dave by Wednesday, May 6 to have it included! Let's show the world what hope, peace and justice mean to us at the Community Church. Be creative! (And watch for a video version of the challenge in tomorrow's service!)

4. This Sunday (April 19), we're calling for contributions to the Housing Initiative of the Justice & Witness Ministry.

This new initiative is partnering with the Seacoast Interfaith Solidarity Coalition to provide emergency quarantine housing for immigrants soon to be released from detention in Dover. We're planning to provide hotel housing for 14 days--to at least 2 immigrants released--so that they can be confident and healthy as they move on to long-term housing arrangements. Use the same Breeze link (above). Click on Stewardship, and then on Other, and make your contribution. In the Comment line, put Immigrant Housing. To learn more, be in touch with Jane Gallant or others on the Justice and Witness Minsitry.
