turkey2022

Help us provide 55 households with Thanksgiving Meals this year by giving a financial donation or providing a 10-15lb. turkey, anytime from now through November 13. We currently have nine turkeys in our freezer, so only 46 to go! According to staff members at Wal-Mart, it may
get harder to obtain turkeys as the month goes on, so if you plan to donate,
turkey shopping sooner rather than later may be advisable.

Monetary donations may be put in either offering box or given online, but please add a note or use the memo line to designate it toward the Turkey Jive Drive. Drop your donations off Monday thru Friday from 9am-2pm or when you're here on Sundays for Worship. Turkeys may be taken
to the chest freezer in the back hall or to the freezer in the kitchen. Thank you!

Prayer

For whom are you praying today?
How can we pray for you?

We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"I pray you will find all you need in God’s love today. Wow, the beginning of a new month is here. Fall is my favorite of the seasons. I love them all but especially fall. The colors just pop! I say this over and again, but we are so blessed! In spite of anything that may be going on in our lives good and bad – God is still good – all the time! He never changes."

"My WORD for this week, “SEEK,” I may have used in the past, but it bears repeating for sure. I was awake this morning, getting ready for the day, and this word was as clear as a bell in my ears. We need to always remember to “seek” God first in ALL things. This is totally for me, I know. My dad always taught me to put God first and everything would fall into place. What a lesson and legacy I was given from my dad. I hate to say I have not always listened and so often got sidetracked but God’s grace and mercy always kept me. I would always have to face the consequences of my actions if I hadn't put God first, but He never left my side. We (I) need to be reminded to “seek” God first – before anything, or any decisions that come up. The Holy Spirit keep us grounded and focused to “seek” after Him. There is a song I love called The More I Seek You that goes, “The more I “seek” you, the more I find you, the more I find you, the more I love you. I want to sit at your feet, drink from the cup in your hand, Lay back against you and breathe, feel your heart beat. This love is so deep, it’s more than I can stand, I melt in your peace, it’s overwhelming.” I want to encourage us today to “seek” after Him first. Not second, or after we have already messed up, but first. Let’s not get sidetracked like I do sometimes with busyness that I forget. Nothing else will do – No exceptions. If you get a chance look up that song and let it soak into your heart.”

"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously,
and he will give you everything you need.”
~ Matthew 6:33 (NLT)

Last Friday was our final day with Brin on staff here. We celebrated her with Maggie's Magic Muffins in the morning and a pizza feast with Crestview at lunch. We sure are going to miss having her here with us. Shawn let her know that out of all the things he would miss about having her here, it was hearing her laugh that he would miss the most!

This week we have been enjoying the fall season. We have taken a nature walk and worked outside, clearing away leaves and cutting up a tree. Today we tackled closing up the wet wall in the greenhouse for the winter. Earlier in the week, we packed up all the leftover donations in the warehouse...making room for Heroes & Halos Christmas project as well as for donations that are incoming for next year! We have also been making cranberry jam and carrying in the supplies for the Turkey Jive Drive. It is beginning to look a lot like thanksgiving here!

Tomorrow we will be in the kitchen baking cookies for another non-profit, The Little Black Cat Collective Pet Food Pantry. Its founder, Laura Zavadil, is a long-time supporter of GG so we are pleased to return the favor. If you want to help local pets and purchase yummy baked goods, like our chocolate chip cookies, stop by Big Ben's Clock Shop in Austintown on Sunday between 2-5pm. More info below in the "Local Community News/Events" section.

Goodness Grows

The non-profit ministry of CGCC, Goodness Grows
is always busy on our property. GG works with students
and adults with disabilities, providing vocational habilitation
training in a fun, hands-on way. The GG crew maintains
the grounds and cleans the building.

Volunteers are always welcome at GG. Stop in anytime or schedule a visit. You can help with whatever job we are tackling, share a hobby or craft, teach a skill, offer to sort in the warehouse, or pull weeds outside. Whatever time and ability you have to offer will be most appreciated!

If you would like to donate, monetary donations as well as donations of regular mouth canning jars (8oz., new or used), lids and rings, and sugar are always needed! With the way prices are increasing on pretty much everything, your donations are needed now more than ever. Thank you!

Wanted ~ Egg Boxes!

H&H "Item of the Month" Program

November’s Item of the Month is 40oz. jars of peanut butter. Each food box will help a family in need this Christmas!
The final Item of the Month, for next month, is:
December ~ Canned Fruit (large cans, any kind)

If you would like to donate toward this project, we have a collection
area near the front door in the Great Room. Thank you!!

Egg Boxes Needed

H&H is looking for egg boxes to use as Christmas food boxes. Last year, they came from Sparkle (Columbiana & East Palestine). With at least doubling, maybe tripling the number of food boxes, any we can collect would help! These are large boxes with handles that make loading and unloading easier and safer. If you have any of these boxes to donate, or if you would be willing to stop into or call other grocery stores and ask for them, that would be greatly appreciated. Egg boxes can be dropped off anytime in the Great Room!

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.

Matthew 25: 35-36, 40
