Or, if the temperature is going to be below freezing for an extended time and you notice the water not trickling in the sinks along the outside wall, please turn it on! ▪ Slippery parking lot? If you arrive and find walking to be slippery experience, you are welcome to grab the bucket of ice melt (with scoop inside) that is kept in the stairwell entryway to the Café and carry it out to use it where needed. We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week! | Encouragement Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement. "I pray your week has been going well. Honestly, I cannot believe it will be February next week. I think we are in a speed warp of time (or else my getting older seems that way). Every day we are closer to Spring – which is good for me. I can start to plant my seedlings for my flowers. That makes me happy! Make sure to find something that makes you happy too!" "My WORD for this week is “STAY.” When I think of the word “stay,” I think of telling a dog to “stay." My dad had a beagle dog named Lady and he would tell her to “stay” and he would walk clear around to the other side of the house and until she heard him whisper (he said it very quietly) to come – she would not move. Now that was a great dog that listened attentively to her master’s voice. Oh boy, what a lesson for us all. We need to “stay” in God’s Word. We need to “stay” in His presence. We need to “stay” in prayer. We need to “stay” in tune with the Holy Spirit in ALL things. Sometimes when we pray – we are so anxious for the answer that we don’t “stay” in prayer until the answer comes. When we need clarification on something we often go to self-help books for the answer when, if we would only “stay” in God’s Word, we would have clarification. If we would “stay” with our channel in tune with the Holy Spirit – He will show us all things and be our guide. Kick back – put your feet up and “stay” a while." "So my dear brothers and sisters, stand strong. Do not let anything move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your work in the Lord is never wasted." ~ 1 Corinthians 15:58 (NCV) | January & February Worship ~ Online & In-Person Pastor Mike Hileman ~ Sundays at 11am Austin Young, Pastoral Intern, will be delivering the message on February 5th & 26th. We hope you save this date and join in the fun! | www.goodnessgrows4all.org Our Mission Statement: To cultivate personal, social, and community growth through gardening, education, and opportunity for people of all abilities. | This turned out to be an unusual week. Wednesday's snowy, slippery weather had us following the local schools' decisions and closing for the day. So our normal five day week became two sets of two days. The first part of our week was all about jam making, cleaning, and moving furniture. We worked on cleaning out and organizing the kitchen pantry. After that, we moved as much furniture as possible off all the carpeted areas in the building to make it as easy as possible for the Serious Carpet Cleaning folks to clean everywhere. It made getting through the Café a real adventure. Our crew probably built up some muscles this week! Today is a cooking with Pastor Mike day! Everyone spent the morning in the kitchen, cooking and having a good time. Two giant pots of homemade chicken soup were bubbling away on the stove. This soup will be packaged up and frozen for use whenever there is a need for a nourishing meal. Plus, all of us here today got to enjoy a delicious bowl together.
