Pomona Pediatrics offers telehealth visits

Telehealth image

During the COVID-19 outbreak our first priority is to protect our patients, their families, and our staff. In order to decrease exposure to potentially contagious patients, we now have the ability to do remote visits. This was developed under the guidance of our partners at CHOC. This allows us to visually assess your child and to make appropriate recommendations.

What problems can be handled with a telehealth visit?

We can evaluate your child with fever, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion, wheezing, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, behavior issues, acne, ER and urgent care follow up visits, and medication checks. We may be able to evaluate ear pain and minor injuries. Sometimes we may determine an in-office or emergency room visit is necessary. Most problems can be resolved without requiring you to leave your home, except perhaps for a trip to the pharmacy.

How do I schedule a telehealth visit?

Call the office at (909) 629-5067 and choose option 3. The assistant will help you determine if a telehealth visit is appropriate. We will email you a link with instructions on how to download the app "Zoom" to your phone, tablet, or computer, and the time of the appointment. Then the doctor will connect with you and conduct the visit, with communication verbally and by video.

What should I do about my child's regular well visit?

We are scheduling well visits only in the mornings. No sick patients, parents, or staff are allowed in the office. It is particularly important to keep your child's well visit appointment if they are due for vaccines. Children under age 2, children ages 4 or 5, and children ages 11 or 12 are usually due for vaccines. Although there is no vaccine yet for COVID-19, we can protect them against other serious diseases which are often more dangerous for infants and children than COVID-19.

Where can I go for information on COVID-19?

The CHOC website is an excellent source of information on COVID-19. Our new website through CHOC has information as well. We are especially thankful for our partnership with CHOC as it has enabled us to rapidly make changes to our policies and keep up with the most current recommendations about this outbreak. We are able to communicate with over 100 other pediatricians and follow the best practices available.
