Twentieth Sunday After Pentecost: Worship at 8:00 & 10:30 am

118n 1

The Gospel for this Sunday:

Mark 10:2-16

Today’s gospel combines a saying that makes many of us uncomfortable with a story we find comforting. Jesus’ saying on divorce is another of his rejections of human legislation in favor of the original intent of God’s law. Jesus’ rebuke of the disciples who are fending off the children should challenge us as well. What does it mean to receive the kingdom of God as a child does?

Pastors’ Emergency Fund

The Worship Mission has designated the first Sunday of each month for donations to the Pastors’ Emergency Fund. Donations are used to assist with security deposits, rent, or other bills. Most recipients simply need a $25 gift card to Woodman’s for gas or groceries. Pastors’ Emergency Fund envelopes are included in the offering envelope packets for those who have them. There are also designated “Pastoral Emergency Fund” offering envelopes pews in the sanctuary. Simply put your name on the envelope and place it in the offering basket. Loose cash from the offering on the first Sunday of the month will go to the Pastors’ Emergency Fund. You are encouraged to make donations to the Pastors’ Emergency Fund at any time.

Walking the Bible: Book of Faith

book of faith

Thursdays Thru October 25

1:00 & 7:00 pm

When you read the Bible, do you wonder what the landscape looked like? How high are the mountains? What was the Dead Sea like when Lot’s wife looked back? Where is the Reed Sea that Moses crossed? Here is your opportunity to see what the land looks like from the comfort of our own adult learning room.
Our Book of Faith Bible study takes us on a journey by land through the five books of Moses with a video that takes us from the birthplace of civilization (Mesopotamia) to Mt. Ararat to Harran to Egypt, and then back to the Promised Land. It took the Israelites 40 years but we will do it in six sessions, led by Pastor Stephen.
