Welcome to the Summer 2020 Elephant Eater Comics Quarterly Update. I'm awfully excited about 2 out of 3 of these updates (I think you'll be able to figure out which is which in pretty short order):

Update #1
I DESIGNED A WATCH!!!

AND IT LAUNCHES TODAY from London-based company, Mr. Jones Watches:

https://www.mrjoneswatches.com/

For those of you who’ve not clicked through to that link yet, this watch is being released in a limited run of only 100, as you can see from the custom illustrated engraved case back:

It’s called “Step Right Up” and features an old carnival shooting gallery. The targets allow you to tell the time, and here’s how:

On Tuesday, I’ll elaborate on why and how this release came to fruition over on www.ElephantEater.com. Until then, best of luck getting your hands on one of the remaining 100 copies.

Update #2
MSU Comic Art and Graphic Novel Podcast Final Episode

Since my previous update, the 39th episode of the Michigan State University Comic Art and Graphic Novel Podcast was released on June 1st, 2020! Not only will it bring a close to season 4 with its 10th episode, but this will also be the final episode of the podcast, period. The Michigan State University Comic Art and Graphic Novel Podcast will no longer be releasing new episodes.

The reason for this is a stress-related health concern on my part. The MSU Comic Art and Graphic Novel Minor and MSU Comics Forum will continue as usual and I am doing alright. I tried to preemptively answer a few questions on my website, here:

The bright side to all this is that the interview subjects are top notch, a couple of the nicest folks in the comics biz, and a power-couple I've wanted to feature on the show for quite some time. I'm talking about the award-winning indie comics publishing duo of Barbra and Bryant Dillon, who are the driving force behind Fanbase Press. They've fostered and published some really thoughtful, intelligent, and well-produced work and you can listen to their episode here:

Update #3
Coin-Op Carnival Garners First Place S.P.A.C.E. Prize for Best Graphic Novel

A couple months ago, I received some great news. My most recent book, Coin-Op Carnival #1, that I illustrated and co-wrote with Nick Baldridge, received top prize, 1st place in the Graphic Novel category, in the Small Press and Alternative Comics Expo (S.P.A.C.E.) annual awards. The S.P.A.C.E. Prize is voted on by both peers and a selected panel of judges. S.P.A.C.E. is the largest small press comics convention in the Midwest and one of the largest in the country.

Alright, all, I think that'll do it for this update. Best of luck nabbing one of those watches today (or soon). ...the company owner tells me he has a feeling they'll sell-out quickly. In the meantime, have a great time the remaining days of summer and I'll likely be in touch with more news come Fall.

Stay safe. Stay positive.
