HBL Members sets off on June 1st for World Record Attempt

Douglas Concha is attempting to set the world record for circumnavigating the globe on a single-speed bicycle. Join HBL on Thursday, 6/01 for a send-off event from 8-9am at Magic Island, then a ride at 9am to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport to wish him a warm a hui hou! Learn more here.

Bike to the Aquarium Day: June 10!

Join us for fun at the Aquarium! Bike to the Waikīkī Aquarium on Saturday, June 10th from 12pm to 5pm and receive free entry, just for riding your bicycle! HBL will be providing secure bike valet service for everyone who bikes there. This event is made possible with support from the Hawai‘i State Energy Office. Click here to learn more.

All Aboard for Bike to the Train!

Join us on Sunday, June 25th for two rides in one event! Fun for the whole family! We’re riding our bikes to the trainyard then riding the historic train at the Hawaiian Railway Society. We have rides leaving from Neal S. Blaisdell Park and Kapapapuhi Point Park, or you can meet us at the train yard. The bike ride itself is free, but a ticket is required to board the train and enjoy lunch. To secure your spot for this exciting event, learn more and purchase your ticket here.

Celebrate 40 Years of HCR with us this September!

We are humbled & beyond excited to host the 40th Anniversary(!) of the Honolulu Century Ride this year on Sunday, September 24th. Join us for a great day of riding along O‘ahu’s beautiful coastline while helping support HBL’s efforts & educational programs. Learn more and register here.

Upcoming June Volunteer Opportunities

We are excited to announce two upcoming events in June: Bike to the Aquarium and Bike to the Train. These events promote sustainable transportation and the joy of cycling in our community. But to make these events happen, we need your help!

Bike to the Aquarium - June 10th (Sat)
Role: Bike Valet Volunteer
Description: Assist with the bike valet service at the Waikīkī Aquarium, ensuring bikes are safely parked and providing friendly assistance to event attendees.

Roles: Ride Helpers, General Setup & Help
Description: Join us in providing ride support to participants during the Bike to the Train event. Help with general event setup, distribute resources, assist participants, and ensure a smooth experience for all.

"Bikeshare Hawaii is one of six U.S. micro-mobility programs to be awarded a grant through the Better Bike Share Partnership. The funds will be used to increase awareness of Biki's Access Program and make Biki more accessible to residents traditionally underserved by bikeshare. Read more here. "KKV’s KVIBE youth worked hard to prepare for the 2023 Ahupuaʻa Ride that hosted 120 community riders and 40+ volunteers. They began planning soon after the successful ride in 2022 and worked throughout the year make sure all the details were in place for the event. For many of the youth, it was a first time to learn about Kalihi, its rich history, and what it means to be part of a community." Read more here!

Kaua‘i Path

"Kauai Path is offering the League of American Bicyclists’ Traffic Skills 101 class, which they present as "Bicycling Skills for Adults," from 8 AM to 4 PM on Saturday, June 10 at the Kauai District Health Office, 3040 Umi Street, Lihue HI 96766. Thanks to a grant from the Kukui’ula Community Benefit Fund, this class is offered at no cost, and loaner equipment is available. Anybody interested in attending should contact Tommy Noyes at 808 639-1018 or news@KauaiPath.org.The class will be followed by the Bikes on Rice Slow Roll Ride, 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM from Kalena Park in Lihue."
