Cider Week NYC: October 21 - 30

The 6th annual Cider Week NYC lasts 10 days in various locations throughout the city, connecting cider makers from New York State–and select pioneering “guest cideries” outside the state–to buyers from top restaurants, bars, and retail shops, as well as the general public.

The success of Glynwood's Cider Project has galvanized a regional craft cider industry in the Hudson Valley that continues to grow exponentially, including the formation of the first-ever New York Cider Association.

Farm Business Applications Due 12/1

Glynwood’s Hudson Valley Farm Business Incubator (HVFBI) is an ideal stepping
stone for farmers ready to build their own farm enterprises. We offer access to
low-cost land, equipment, infrastructure and housing. By working one-on-one with farmers on business and financial planning, technical skills and eventual land tenure transition, the HVFBI is taking a longer view on supporting a new generation of farmers in the region, equipping participants with the tools and guidance to get there.

Visit our website for more information and to apply. Initial applications are due December 1, 2016, with the 2017 program beginning in early May.

A Personal Appeal from our Farm Crew

While our growing season is winding down, this is a crucial time of year for us. Right now, our vegetable crew is busy planting cover crops–a critical part of our soil improvement work. We are also piloting new innovations to help us extend our winter CSA season and double the number of winter shares available this year, including a new cooler inside our root cellar with four distinct temperature zones and new “low tunnels” in our CSA field that will allow us to grow hearty winter greens. These techniques, which are used on few farms in our region, are important training tools for our apprentices.

Learn more from our Vegetable Production Manager, Jarret Nelson, about the incredible volume of work that is being accomplished, and how a tax-deductible donation from you provides additional support for these efforts.

A quick reminder that we are a working farm with daily agricultural operations that continue regardless of guests on the property. We ask that visitors are mindful of farmers at work, tractors on the move and all animals on the property. For everyone’s safety, please adhere to our STRICT 20 MPH speed limit on Glynwood Road, parts of which are one-way only. Farming vehicles and incoming cars always have the right of way. For more information on visiting our farm, please visit our website.
