International Course day

Happy New Year!

Well it is only the third week of the new year and already I've been to three workshops. My training plan is growing by the day, with three dogs with different needs and a major knee injury, the extreme heat and all the other things we need to do in life, it often seems hard to fit in.

Natalie Kirkwood at her December workshop suggested to make sure you include in each session a stationary exercise, one that involves movement, one that checks existing skills. In a five minute session a day, this becomes a handy reminder to keep developing your training plan and can be a great way to give you ideas on the go for what you want to do.

Nicola and Scout

Nicola Giraudi in Australia

Well what a week that was, Nicola was so much fun and an honour to host. I really want to thank everyone who attended and I hope you got a lot out of your sessions. It was refreshing to see the dogs treated as individuals and his feedback was tailored to each team. I’m sure he will be back in 2020, we will keep everyone updated once Maria Thiry has dates.

Maria

Maria Thiry in March

Maria is paring down her interstate workshops in 2019, so we will likely only be seeing her twice this year. The breadth of Maria’s experience and understanding of dog training and especially tapping into newer concepts of engaging dogs makes her one of Australia’s premier Agility Trainers. Her love of building joy for the dogs brings a special skill to her workshops. Foundation Training for young dogs and dogs new to Agility is not to be missed, we run this at Canine Ed on the Friday and keep the groups small at six handlers.

Sessions for Friday and Saturday are almost full, so don’t delay, click this link to register for Maria.

Peta Clarke

Another Fun Weekend with Peta Clarke in May

Coming straight off the back of her Clinic with Susan Friedman, we have Peta visiting and will be revisiting Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) across two days of nose work. Saturday will again focus on building confidence and joy in dogs who are new to nose work but we are hoping to use this day as an opportunity for dogs and their stewards needing skills to relax in new environments.

Sunday is again for teams looking to compete in Nose Work trials and will focus on this across the day. We have a total of 7 Handlers and 5 Auditors and this will be hosted at Canine Ed in our training room.

We had a lot of fun last time and I hope to see you there! To Register

Charlotte Rundgren in March

Charlotte is always booked within days of us posting her workshops and while we can’t offer any handling spots, auditing places are still free. Charlotte is back competing in 2019 and we may not be able to get her over as frequently this year, we will keep you updated though and I’m sure it isn’t the only visit for 2019. Auditing is available though and she is so worth the visit as an auditor, the information is exceptional and like all our presenters, Charlotte is always updating her knowledge and skills. Oopsie Tug

Our Survey Winner is!

Congratulations to Fee Kratovil, who has selected the Oopsie Tug for her Jack Russells as her prize.

Our survey had a great response with over fifty replies. Thank you all so much for taking the time to fill in the form. This survey was really helpful to present a case for a few key areas, including pet friendly accommodation, which is in demand.

Tough Tugz Pom Pom

Tough Tugz are on their way and new Salty Dog Toys are up on the website now!

My trip to New Zealand meant I sold out of most toys we have in stock, so apologies for those of you wanting for toys, our Tough Tugz toys are made to order and take a little longer to arrive, we are expecting them in the first week of February and I’ll send a note once they are in stock.

However! We now have our latest Salty Dog Toys up and there are some new arrivals in there. The super tough fur bait bags are amazing and are going fast, we also have a custom Buffalo Delta tug that is exclusive to Canine Ed, have a look here.

Happy Training,
Lisa and Mark Wright
