"BATHROOM BILL" TO BE DEBATED THIS WEEK
The government has scheduled a second reading of Bill C-16 for Tuesday, October 18th. Introduced in May, Bill C-16 would add the terms 'gender identity' and 'gender expression' to the Canadian Human Rights Act and Criminal Code, and make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of these two categories.
WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?
This bill will put a large number of Canadians in danger. Males of any age will have the legal right to share the same bathrooms and change rooms used by our young daughters and there have already been numerous reports of women being confronted in the ladies washroom by men claiming the legal right to be there.
Most concerningly, Bill C-16 will put anyone who speaks out against transgenderism at risk of committing "hate speech" and facing legal punishment. Christians in particular could face legal trouble for simply upholding biblical principles.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Bill C-16 will come to a vote shortly after debate begins this Wednesday. Depending on how long the debate lasts, voting will likely take place before the end of the month. In the meantime, we can all do the following:
1) PRAY:
Please pray that MPs would find a way to offer real help and hope to those struggling with gender confusion without putting other Canadians at risk. Most importantly, please pray that those struggling with confusion and identity would come to an acknowledgement and love for who they were created by God to be.
2) SIGN THE PETITION:
