THE BIG BUZZ ON OUR SMALL BUSINESSES

JULY 2018

This month we are all abuzz about Fremont Fest: Saturday, August 4.

I Love A Parade

St. Rose School is sponsoring our Kid's Parade which kicks off the street fair at 10 am. The Grant High School State Champion Boys Basketball Team will be leading the pack. Decorate your bike or your dog and come down to Beaumont Middle School at 9:30 am for pre-parade festivities; you might just win an award. Christine Mallar of Green Dog will be organizing the parade again this year. You can contact her here.

Kids Zoned Out

All kids will play for free in our new Kid's Zone courtesy of a generous donation by OnPoint Community Credit Union. And oh what fun they will have with a bounce house, futsal court, soccer darts, pop-a-shot and more! There will be science experiments, crafts, games, sports challenges hosted by local teams, exhibitions, a photo booth and skateboarding activities presented by Skate Like a Girl. And, rumor has it, we may get some love from the Portland Timbers! Look for the giant Legos at the entrance to the kid zone at the east end of Fremont.

Fremont's Got Talent

We have booked more bands than Blake Shelton has winners on The Voice. From contemporary folk, rags and blues, jazz, funk, classic rock and swing, there is something for everyone. The lineup includes: The Manhasset Project, Hops & Honey Goodtime Band, The Larks, Jazz Rockets, Hot Tea Cold and The Beacon Street Titans. Keep your ear out for a special performance by the School of Rock House Band (an audition-based kid's group) playing songs from the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack. There will be two music stages -- by Mcpeets & Amalfi's. And for the record, Blake has mentored 6 champions.

Beer Prudence

Grab a 13 oz souvenir mug for $10 and join the annual Pub Crawl. Stop in at Bottles, Alameda Brew Pub, Cha Cha Cha!, Thrive, Perlot, Nohos and McPeets for a beer taster and you might just win $50 cash for your effort. I'll drink to that. Look for Pub Crawl mugs at the information booth.

Bloodworks Northwest Blood Mobile will be waiting for you at the parking lot by Pizzicato. Stop in to cool off and make a donation to the blood bank. Both things will make you feel good.

Our 32nd Annual Fremont fest will feature over 300 vendor booths with local artists hawking their wares, food purveyors selling their tasty treats and homemade products, local non-profit organizations, service providers and performers. Don't miss this exciting event, and while you're there...
