PRIME MINISTER JUSTIN TRUDEAU CALLED BACK TO PASS EMERGENCY SPENDING BILL
Secondly, we wanted to alert you that the Government has called back a representation of Parliament to pass an emergency spending bill that could give them increased fiscal powers in attempts to deal with the COVID-19 crisis. Click here to see the Prime Minister's press conference on this.
The Globe and Mail reported that this bill would effectively give the government a blank cheque to spend and increase taxes without the agreement of other parties in Parliament right through to December 2021, that is for 21 months. The concern is that the lack of accountability could lead to extended hyper-deficits and skyrocketing taxes for this and future generations. Click here to read this article.

Thirty-two MPs, divided proportionally based on party standing, will be in Ottawa to debate the bill being tabled today.

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer issued a statement late Monday announcing the Official Opposition will not support a bill that gives the government unlimited powers to raise taxes without a parliamentary vote. He acknowledged that Canadians do need support but that a blank cheque to the Liberal Government for 21 months is dangerous.
