Individual Pictures for the Yearbook

We want to include a headshot of every student at Mills, and there are two options.
The individual student photo should be taken of each student and in front of a neutral background.
Send to the yearbook using one of the following options:

1. Upload your headshot using the Image Share app labeled with their name (as it will be printed), grade and teacher.
2. Email your photo to millsyearbook2020@gmail.com let us know their name (as it will be printed), grade and teacher. Sending a photo directly to the Mills Yearbook is your consent for it to be included.

Kids Help Kids

Ethan Whitman, a Mills 4th grader, found that Coke products donate money to organizations based on codes in bottle caps.
Ethan has created a website that will allow you to enter codes for Coke product tops you purchase or find. Those codes will generate a quarterly donation to Mills. Mills will use the proceeds to support our student leadership programs at Mills: PALS, SEL, and Safety Patrol.
Please check your bottle caps & enter the code at Ethan's website: https://kidshelpschools.com/
Ethan, thank you for taking action to support our school!!

Next Landscape Committee Workday - Saturday, February 6 From 1-4 pm

The Landscape Committee AKA "Dirt Club" will be having their next workday on Saturday, February 6 From 1-4 pm. We'll continue to focus on clearing brush away from the playground fence. This time we'll tackle it from the north end near the portables. Look for vehicles parked along Davis near the intersection with Escarpment. It's strongly recommended to bring work gloves if you have them and wear close toed shoes.

If you'd like to help, but in further proximity from others, there's a variety of other tasks that can be done such as picking up rocks and/or trash, weeding plant beds and staining picnic tables.

If you haven't helped before or if it's been awhile, please consider it. It really is a rewarding experience.

Go Green Tip of the Month - Reduce Junk Mail (Part 2)

Every month, we are offering a tip to encourage our school community to be more eco-friendly. The tips may be small, but they can amount to big changes that help our children have a healthy and thriving planet in the future.

Do you enjoy receiving junk mail? Few people do. Besides being annoying, did you know junk mail is also incredibly harmful to the environment? According to the New York University School of Law, junk mail manufacturing creates as much greenhouse gas emissions annually as 3.7 million cars! (largely due to deforestation)

So are you ready to reduce your junk mail? Last month, we tackled reducing prescreened credit card offers. This month, let’s tackle reducing direct mailers from the Association of National Advertisers (ANA).

--Visit www.dmachoice.org and click on Get Started.
--Enter your personal information and pay $2 to stop to opt out of direct mailers for ten years.

Note that it can take 3-4 months to notice a difference since many mailings are already in print or production, so don’t get discouraged if you still see junk mail even after taking this step. Also, this step won’t stop all direct mailers and catalogs. We’ll talk more about that next month.
