Intensive Summer Workshop

We are delighted to announce Sawmill Creek's first summer event at Blue Mountain Retreat Center in Knoxville, MD. (Just an hour and 15 minutes from both Baltimore and Washington, D.C.)

We love spending time at Blue Mountain - relaxing, knitting, and enjoying the community of other knitters - so we've tucked in an Intensive Workshop to take advantage of the long, lazy days of the season and the calm and quiet of rural Maryland.

Learn Stranded Knitting

Our July 27-29 Retreat will be all about stranded (or fair isle) knitting, from cast on to bind off, we'll cover topics like how to hold your yarns, how to weave in your ends as you go, "catching" your floats (and when you need to do it), and tips for keeping your tension even. We'll even have a small project for you if you'd like to try your hand at steeking.

The workshop will run from Monday morning until late Wednesday afternoon, giving you plenty of time to learn about 2- or 3+ color stranding, with breaks for taking a walk or nap, or perhaps getting a massage (Beth, the owner of Blue Mountain, is a certified massage therapist).

Each person will have the opportunity to learn at their own pace, in their own way. Relax, have fun and increase your skill set - all in 3 days!

Our September 2020 Fiber Tour of Shetland is fully booked - look for another one in 2021. The June 19-22 Maine Knitting Cruise with Casapinka is also SOLD OUT. The September 21-24 sailing still has openings, but we are filling up fast. See the website for details.
