Per census, migrants are more educated and underemployed

New census data released on October 2022 revealed that on average, migrants have a higher level of education than people born in Australia, but many are employed well below their education levels or struggle to find work at all.

7.8% More EU citizens are finishing secondary education now compared to 10 years ago

More EU citizens between the age of 20 and 24 have completed their intermediate level of education, causing the rates of this category to increase from 76.8 per cent to 84.6 per cent, in a decade-long period – from 2002 to 2021.

Campus cafeterias become focus of anti-government protests

In a World University News piece posted on October 27, 2022, Shafigheh Shirazi writes: “The sight of women students and high school girls removing their headscarves during ongoing protests in Iran have become common in recent weeks, but in a new show of defiance, university students are refusing to maintain segregation rules on campus despite threats of expulsion and increased security intended to stop demonstrations.”

An Affordable New Educational Institution

5 MIT professors envision an affordable institution. One of their ideas reasserts model of stackable credentials. "We generalize the concept of majors and minors by turning the degree into a series of micro-credentials which are “stacked.” Each micro-credential is composed of courses, but the courses fit into themes. Micro-credentials can be better matched to student capabilities and interests than majors and minors; put students in a better position for employment in specialized areas; and offer greater value to students (especially those who leave the degree program without finishing)." YEMEN

War’s toll on higher education

The seven-year conflict has caused a humanitarian crisis in Yemen, impoverishing millions of people and impacted all Yemeni universities, directly or indirectly affected by the war. Even in areas that have escaped military clashes, such as Hadhramaut and Seiyun, universities have been affected by years of budget cuts and the suspension of infrastructure work.

Editor-Credential Evaluation Report Review

Experienced international credential evaluator to join ACEI’s editorial team to assist with the review of final evaluation reports. The individual is responsible for reading content of final reports, reviewing information on the applicant’s application form and educational credentials to check for errors and areas to refine the report. Their duties include maintaining close communication with other members of the editorial team and credential evaluators, referring to style guides and published print and electronic references to verify and improve the content and making corrections to grammatical errors and punctuation mistakes, program requirements (institution status, entry criteria, duration of program) as well as US educational equivalence recommendations. Global Credential Evaluator

The global credential evaluator will evaluate academic credentials from around the world for U.S. educational equivalence in accordance with standards and policies followed by ACEI and those approved by the International Education Standards Council and the Association of International Credential Evaluators. This position is open to trained and experienced freelance evaluators with knowledge of global education systems and U.S. educational equivalencies. For more information, click here.
