Dear

A new video... a new playground... top floor finished... there's lots going on again at the Child of Hope school – here's a round-up. You can read other stories on our website news page.

Kids just love to play

Our new playground is terrific, our kids at the school have never seen anything like it! You just don’t normally find purpose-built playgrounds in the Namatala slum. And they love it. Again, huge thanks to Rotary Club of Oadby in Leicester and individual donors that made it possible for us to buy the land right next to our school and have the playground erected.

New video: our amazing school in the slum

Here's a new 5-minute video – the story of how Child of Hope started its life-changing, high-social impact work in the Namatala slum of eastern Uganda. It gives some good views of the Namatala slum where we work, and CoH's response to the terrible poverty and lack of opportunities afforded to children with no education. Well worth a watch.

The new school year starts

At the start of the new school year, here are all the pupils at our school! They are standing in the middle section of the school... clearly showing it needs a good lick of paint following the addition of the third level. It'll have to wait, however, as the official opening of the completed school takes place in September, and it will be painted just before that! More..

We now need just £315 for furniture on the new floor. If you would like to donate towards that, please click here. Thanks!

Impact of our parents' business start-up scheme

Some new statistics show us how people are gradually moving away from abject poverty, thanks to their businesses started in our Income Generating Activity (IGA) programme... click here to read the details.

Did you know... you can part-sponsor an IGA staff member for just £10 a month? For details, please click here.

Good news for Baby Peter

Last year we told you the story of baby Peter, who’s mum sadly died when he was just six weeks old and he was malnourished and sickly. But now Peter’s health is good and he is crawling and standing. Joyce Mary’s business is doing well after help from our IGA staff and their future is looking far better than it was! More...
