Where's Waldo?

Find your BBA business on our new district map. Go to our new Beaumont Village kiosk near Batter to see it displayed in all its glory. While you are there, follow the steps to enter a Fright Night contest and win free Pip’s dougnuts. This is the first of three kiosks we plan to install on the street. Each will house our district map, event flyers, and info on our business community.

Junk in the Trunk

Listen to these words carefully: Jean. Fitting. Expert.
The Arrangement is hosting Girlfriends Day on Saturday, Oct. 20 with a NYDJ Trunk Show and an expert to help you pour into the perfect pair. Raffles throughout the day, gift with $100 purchase and refreshments. Now that’s a day we can rally behind.

Rock 'n' Roll Forever

The Great Nate Snell of Pip's Original Doughnuts is back with the boys in the band. Pacific Latitudes is recording their debut LP at Singing Sands studio. You may have seen them featured in a recent Honda commercial. We are glad to get a peek behind the curtain.

JEF EATS

A Monthly Culinary Adventure

Jef Atwood must be on the Whole 30 because he hasn’t reviewed any restaurants for us this month. To fill in, we opted to do a “Did You Know” rundown of restaurant tidbits. Did You Know...

Perlot now serves brunch on Saturdays as well as Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm; and offers all-day happy hour on Tuesdays. For happy hour try the 1/3 lb burger with fried onions, green curry aioli and frisee.

Alameda Brew Pub is serving brunch from 9 am to 1 pm on weekends. We can’t get past the “giant, sticky, gooey, warm cinnamon roll” to try anything else on the menu.

Prince Coffee is shooting to re-open its doors on October 9 as fresh as a daisy after the fire.

Little Griddle - always ready to rally around the community - has signed on as a Grant Football Army supporter. Look for them on the backs of students on game night. (Listed as a sponsor on Grant Army t-shirts that is.)

Grand Central Baking is on the pumpkin spice train, but the bigger news is that they are the first B Corp Certified bakery in the Pacific Northwest. They are officially a force for good, promising to work with mission-aligned vendors who are committed to sustainable values such as livable wages and benefits, stability for independent farmers, support of non profits, immigrant rights and let's hear it - workplace equality. Go Grand Central!

NEW MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Justin is Bringing Learning Back

Sylvan Learning Center has official joined ranks with the BBA as our newest member. But Center Director Justin Earle has already been contributing behind the scenes to many of our community events such as Dash to Doughnuts. Sylvan Learning is all about local families and their children, therefore, Justin explains, “it is incumbent upon us to actively support the local community and participate in neighborhood events.” Hella-yeah! A father of three, Justin claims to be a pretty good cook and likes to grow chili peppers. When not at the Center on Fremont, you can find him building computers, watching the Red Sox or enjoying some buffalo wings at Fire on the Mountain. Look for Justin passing out candy on Fright Night and quiz him down on how he help your child achieve long-term success.

EVENTS

Fright Night is back. Bring the kids and trick or treat over 40 Beaumont businesses from 4 to 6pm on Halloween. Then, for the older monsters, let them walk thru the haunted house at Fremont Commons from 6 to 8pm — if they dare! Sponsors will have golden ticket candy that can be redeemed by lucky winners for prizes at the haunted house. Fun for the whole family.

All Mixered Up

Thank you to Peak Mortgage for hosting Biz Mix 3 on Sept. 24, which brought two powerhouse oganizations together to listen to our small business concerns — Venture Portland and the Portland Business Alliance. Our members got a first look at our new district map, tips for successful holiday sales and if they were lucky — free passes to try out those crazy Bird Scooters. (Look for Aaron Settlemeier zipping around soon.)
