Dear Laurel Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful vacation and were able to enjoy time with family & friends! Be sure to check our upcoming events as we have some exciting events this month!

I wanted to share a little something with all of you. During a typical busy day at school I’m unable to leave the office and get out to see all of the wonderful ‘happenings’ in school. So finally, during vacation, I was able to take a deep breath and spend some time in our quiet school. As I walked around the halls, I was able to sit and reflect on the well- documented student work displayed across the walls. I was able to take in all of the amazing things they’ve been learning and love the emphasis we place on art. The physical artwork is fantastic and increasingly integrated throughout our curriculum with dance & movement, music, language, and collaborative art. I feel that we provide an education that facilitates a creative outlet for the students to investigate, explore, learn and think deeply about subject matter. Encouraging this type of critical thinking is just one way our students are able to navigate their world using 21st century skills. As I walked around our school, I felt so proud of our students and faculty and what they accomplish everyday. I sat and felt grateful for all you, our families, who support this type of education for their children because it is our great privilege to be able to provide it.

In this season of giving I am definitely feeling grateful that I am allowed to be a part of something that I believe in with a full heart and mind.

I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events, as we all get ready for another new year!
Best,
Amy
