GROUP EXERCISE SCHEDULE CHANGES

New Yoga Class on Monday Afternoons (12:00p)

In response to popular demand from our participants (that's you) we are now once again offering a Monday afternoon Yoga class.

Beginning this upcoming Monday (8/18) our new HATHA YOGA class will be offered from 12:00p-12:55p in the OPERS Martial Arts Studio (Note: This class is not being held in the Health Center Conference Room due to the unavailability of the staff needed to set-up and break-down that room before and after each class, as well as it's unavailability for the 2nd half of September).

HATHA YOGA will be taught a new addition to our FitLife instructional staff, Sara Kaiser. Sara is a recent graduate from UC Santa Cruz. She also recently completed her professional Yoga training and certification through Nourish Santa Cruz, and has been teaching locally since the spring of '14. She is very excited to have this opportunity to lead you all through a great Yoga experience!

U-Jam Xpress & Zumba Xpress Discontinued

Due to insufficient participation and interest we must regrettably discontinue two of the classes that have been on our schedule for the first half of the summer. Beginning this week (8/11) the following classes are no longer being offered:

U-JAM XPRESS (Tue, 12:00p @ OPERS Multipurpose Rm)
ZUMBA XPRESS (Thu, 12:00p @ OPERS Multipurpose Rm)

If you were attending, or planning to attend any of these classes we encourage you to view our schedule on our website (fitlife.ucsc.edu) or Google Calendars for alternative group exercise class options, including possible upcoming class additions and/or replacements.

Here are other classes we offer at nearly the same time as those being discontinued:

PERSONAL TRAINING STAFF ADDITIONS

FitLife is excited to introduce 2 recent additions to our Personal Fitness Training staff:

Kyle Bossier -

Kyle is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), specializing in athletic strength and conditioning. In addition to training personal fitness clients for the FitLife program, he serves as the assistant coach for the UCSC Banana Slugs Men's Basketball team and teaches beginning strength-training classes for the UCSC Physical Education program.

Kirsten Olshan -

Kirsten is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). She has nearly 20 years of experience as a trainer and group exercise instructor, specializing in Pilates, Barre, TRX, Yoga, Indoor Cycling, Rowing, and Dance. She considers her special skills to be alignment & neuromuscular retraining; athletic training for agility, flexibility, strength, & balance; and dance instruction towards using the whole body to stay long, lean, & injury-free. "The difference between the impossible and the possibilities in a person is determination."

Kyle, Kirsten, and the rest of our Personal Fitness Training staff and available to work with you to create personalized fitness training programs, coach you through your workouts, and/or simply help educate you on the proper techniques for performing exercises and using equipment, so that you can achieve your fitness goals. UPCOMING HOLIDAY CLOSURE

All OPERS facilities will be closed on Monday, September 1st, in observance of Labor Day. This means that any FitLife programming (GX classes, personal training sessions, etc.) normally scheduled for Mondays will not be available. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding, and we hope that you'll enjoy the holiday!
