Internationally bestselling author Joe R. Lansdale (The Donut Legion, The Thicket) will appear in person for a rare screening of the film, COLD IN JULY, based on his novel. Tickets ($35) for the screening will include a copy of Lansdale’s newest crime fiction collection, THINGS GET UGLY: THE BEST CRIME FICTION OF JOE. R. LANSDALE. Additionally, Lansdale will be on hand to sign all books purchased at or brought to the event. Lansdale’s earlier books will be sold by BookPeople prior to the screening. A Q&A will follow the screening.

Book Signing: 4:00p - 5:00p | Film Start: 5:30p

About the Film:
How can a split-second decision change your life? While investigating noises in his house one balmy Texas night in 1989, Richard Dane puts a bullet in the brain of a low-life burglar, Freddy Russell. Although he’s hailed as a small-town hero, Dane soon finds himself fearing for his family’s safety when Freddy’s ex-con father, Ben, rolls into town; hell-bent on revenge. However, not all is as it seems. Shortly after Dane kills the home intruder, his life begins to unravel into a dark underworld of corruption and violence. Twists and turns continue to pile up as the film reaches its inevitable destination: a gore-soaked dead end.

About Joe R. Lansdale
Joe R. Lansdale (Savage Season, The Donut Legion) is the internationally-bestselling author of over fifty novels, including the popular, long-running Hap and Leonard novels. Many of his cult classics have been adapted for television and film, most famously the films Bubba Ho-Tep and Cold in July, and the Hap and Leonard series on Sundance TV and Netflix. Lansdale has written numerous screenplays and teleplays, including the iconic Batman: The Animated Series. He has won an Edgar Award for The Bottoms and ten Stoker Awards, and he has been designated a World Horror Grandmaster. Lansdale, like many of his characters, lives in East Texas, with his wife, Karen.
