RIPTA RIDER OF THE MONTH

David N. of South Attleboro, MA

Meet David N., a Citizens Bank employee and a Providence native. David’s story is unique as he commutes from South Attleboro, Mass. and takes three RIPTA routes to get to and from work daily. David has been riding RIPTA for the past 40 years; as a child exploring Rhode Island with his family, as a teen going to and from high school, and today to head to and from work in Johnston, Rhode Island.

“Honestly I can say that service overall is reliable and I can integrate the route options and schedules into my very busy daily routine, while getting to where I need to be,: David said. “Having been a rider over time, there are bus drivers that I have come to know or at least recognize and say hi. Having a visual impairment that restricts me from driving, RIPTA provides a reliable independent transportation option that works with my busy schedule.”

David has used RIPTA monthly passes throughout his many years of riding the bus. Citizens Bank is part of our employer program that allows employees to purchase fare products as a pre-tax deduction, allowing them to save significant tax money.

David has also tried our new Flash Pass mobile app. “It is simple to use, allows electronic purchase of many different fare products and operates in many of the same ways as other transit-systems apps,” he said. The Transit mobile app and RIPTA’s website have also been helpful in David’s daily commute, “for schedule information and to help track the location of an upcoming bus.”

For more information, or to discuss introducing the employer program at your workplace, call a Commuter Resource RI transit specialist at 401-784-9575 or email commuter@ripta.com.
