Workdays by Appointment Only

Until Covid Situation Changes

Tues & Thurs, Oct 27 & 29

Several of you expressed confusion due to my previous headings & thought the Garden was officially closed! We are open for work in the Garden on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 8:30 am until 9:30 am but.....You really need to give me advance notice when you would like to volunteer. The practice of social distancing in the Garden is still a necessity even though we are outside. 7 to 10 people in the Garden at one time seems to be the perfect number. Please call me, text me or email me to tell me when you would like to work. If you are a couple or a family, you may work as a unit and would not have to practice social distancing from each other.

What glorious fall weather we had for our gardening this past week! The volunteers gathered in 84 pounds of veggies for TEAM. Most of the harvest was Asian cucumbers and luffa squash but we were very proud of our 1st kale and Bok Choy. We managed to plant long beans in one of our trellis beds, chard in the bed with our Bok Choy, and our first planting of lettuce.
With all this nice cool weather, we will be putting in the rest of our broccoli transplants and our sugar snap peas. As always, our volunteers weeded and prepared additional beds for planting. Last Thursday, we were able to use our workers to prepare the spot for our Girl Scout Greenhouse that was built this past Saturday. (Picture and more will be posted next week.)

Our featured picture this week is our new donated pile of compost! We are very grateful to Architectural Land Design, Inc. for donating this much needed compost. Thank you! We diligently compost and fertilize our beds between crops so they are ready for new plantings.

Remember to let me know if you want to volunteer in the Garden. Thank you to everyone that has been so courteous about letting me know when they are available!

Don't forget that we are practicing social distancing in the garden. We are also following Urban Harvest's recommendations about always wearing gloves and bringing our own hand tools to the garden. Soap & disinfectant are available for use.
