President's Update

HCBA/TKA Alumni,

Greetings from 202 Smothers Road! For those of you to whom I have not been able to introduce myself, my name is Jeremy Sandefur, and I am honored to serve as the President/Headmaster of The King's Academy. My family (Lisa, Josiah, Lindley, and Cooper) hit the ground running on campus this past summer and worked diligently to invest in this place that we all love dearly.

This newsletter is intended to provide highlights on what is occurring on campus, opportunities for alumni involvement, and ways that you can pray and support the efforts of The King's Academy.

TKA, along with most independent educational providers, has come through a very difficult season of learning how to provide excellent faith-based education during a global pandemic. Due to the lessons learned, we are now postured for even greater success moving forward. TKA has been blessed with a 9% enrollment increase during this school year, and despite dealing with the pandemic, the school has seen a very successful year in our classrooms, fields of competition, etc. The 2021-22 academic year has included opportunities for students to learn on campus and to begin serving our community through the newly launched "Love Where We Live" campaign. The heart of our leadership team, faculty, and staff is to develop servant leaders that will change the world for Christ.

I have fully enjoyed the opportunity to get to know many of our esteemed alumni and cherish the stories and impacts that are shared with me on a weekly basis. I would like to personally invite you to participate in an upcoming alumni activity/event or to drop by campus when you are in the area. I look forward to getting to know as many of you as possible in the days and weeks ahead.

In Christ,

Jeremy Sandefur
President

Pavilion dedication picture

Dedication of the Dr. Carroll Reece Reagan Pavilion

The Dr. Carroll Reece Reagan Pavilion was completed in the winter of 2021 and dedicated on December 17th. During the dedication, we had many special visitors on campus. Among those were Mrs. Reagan and her Granddaughter, Ashlie (Reagan) Perkins as well as many other members of the Reagan family.

The pavilion was a gift of love from Mrs. Miriam Reagan in memory of her beloved husband, Dr. Carroll Reece Reagan. Dr. Reagan's legacy lives on as the pavilion is an integral part of the daily life on campus. We are thankful to Mrs. Reagan and the Reagan family for the incredible facility that will benefit our families for years to come.

Jane Wilson for alumni

Jane Wilson (74') was elected Chairperson of the Board of Trustees

In October of 2021, the TKA Board of Trustees unanimously elected Ms. Jane Wilson (74') to serve as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. Ms. Wilson's passion for the ministry of The King's Academy dates back to her time as a boarding student at Harrison Chilhowee Baptist Academy.

Ms. Wilson routinely shares with stakeholders that it was her time on campus at HCBA that shaped her spiritual life and where the Lord began to direct her steps for her future. We are deeply grateful for her faithful service and leadership of our Board of Trustees.

The following alumni are also currently serving as members of the TKA Board of Trustees:
Dr. Carter Davis (54'), Mr. Ed Flannigan (76'), Mr. Drew Smothers (85'),
Mrs. Christy Wood (74'), and Mr. Daniel Finchum (06').
