5 REASONS TO WRITE is a new series of blog posts. Starting with 5 Reasons to Write Super Short Stories, these posts will explore a variety of writing related topics - like 5 Reasons to Write Indoors, 5 Reasons to Write Outdoors, 5 Reasons to Write Commas, 5 Reasons to Write Speculative Fiction, and more.

I'm hoping to get guests involved, so please consider one of the 5 REASONS topics listed here or create one of your own and e-mail me at tyreantigger (at) gmail (dot) com.

My plans for guest bloggers and writers are: to have a guest do a 5 Reasons post once a month, to host a blog fest in May 2017, and to put together an anthology for the end of 2017.

New in 2016

from Stay Classy Publishing: a diverse group of authors, bloggers, speakers and editors has come together to bring you a unique collection of writings: “The Thing that Turned Me,” an anthology revolving around the people, places and things in our lives that ‘turn’ us, or cause us to change in some way.

A patchwork quilt of talent collaborates on this new and exciting project, inviting a singular synergy to the anthology that will leave you turning pages without delay. Works within the anthology range from Science Fiction and Fantasy to Creative Non-Fiction, and beyond. Poetry blends with prose in this variegated ensemble of stories, poems and essays.

“The Thing That Turned Me” will be available for paperback and ebook purchase in mid-2016. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to piece this collection together!

(I am honored to be a part of this group!)

Question asked at a high school: how do you finish a novel?
Tip/Answer: Just keep writing. It's hard, but one word on the page after the other is the best way to beat writer's block.
Or, if you feel like the story has gone the wrong direction, stop and do some characterization writing, or skip ahead to a different part of the plot and come back to the "muddy" part later in revision.

Writing Prompt (if you are stuck): What is your main character's heart's desire and what is standing in his/her way?
