MY CANADA DELEGATION INSIDER REPORT

Josiah20162

Thank you for your prayers and financial support of our 2016 delegation that just returned from Parliament to meet with over 70 Members of Parliament & Senators.

(Please scroll down to see some photos from the week).

The week did not disappoint. Throughout the week we sat down in the offices of many new MPs from the Liberal and the Conservative caucus as well as a few from the NDP. In the meetings we were able to encourage our leaders to stand for righteousness on important issues that our nation is facing at this time and pray for many of them.

Following are some important pieces of information that we walked away from the week with.

1 - The Urgency Of the Assisted Suicide Issue: There is no doubt that we are in a defining moment for our nation on this important issue. Legislation on assisted suicide could be tabled within a week. So many lives hang in balance of how our leaders craft this legislation and evidence from other nations like Belgium and the Netherlands show clearly that nations that began with strong restrictions traditionally quickly progressed to something else.

Here are some quick stats: Currently 1 in 30 deaths in Holland are now from euthanasia, Dutch doctors are saying that the "anguish of parents" is a good enough reason to euthanize a disabled child and studies have shown that in Belgium as many as 31% of euthanasia deaths were without consent. We do not want to see Canada go down this path.

Last week, time and time again MPs told us that they want to hear from their constituents directly on the issue. Though postcards and petitions are good, they are not taken as seriously as a personal letter (preferably hand written and mailed) that is sent into their office. In summary: the more effort it takes a person to send a communication in, the more seriously an MP will take the communication.

Please take a moment to e-mail your MP, or better yet write a hand written letter to your MP, on this important issue. Click here to find out who your MP is now.

2 - Motion 47: While we were at Parliament Motion 47 was tabled which calls upon the Standing Committee on Health to examine the public health effects of on-line violent and degrading sexually explicit material. This is a great motion. It was tabled by Arnold Viersen. Please encourage your MP to support it.

3 - Our Leaders Need Our Prayer: Perhaps now more than ever before, our leaders need our prayer. There are many God fearing men and women that have been elected to this Parliament. Let's pray that God will give them great grace and enable them to be effective in their pursuit to advance Godly agenda.

Thank you again for your support of this year's MY Canada Parliamentary delegation!
