Oaks Cabin during Week 3

God's love is for real, forever, for you, for keeps and for sharing! 539 family, day and resident campers clearly heard these truths from God's Word and saw these truths lived out in our team during our summer urban outreach ministry. We believe that at least 89 of them "came to know and to believe the love that God has for them" (1 John 4:16). Over 200 of our campers were at Streamside for the first time and many came through our growing relationships with churches, east coast urban ministries, BCM missionaries and social service agencies. One such relationship was with Teen Haven, a ministry who closed their camp in May. We were grateful to be able to fill a void for some of their staff and campers. In addition to traditional camp, 12 teens completed our Service & Leadership Training (SLT) program.

Streamside's Nature Center has a froggatorium where campers can feed worms to leopard frogs. This is one of many hands on with nature opportunities children from urban environments can experience while at camp. Our leopard frogs became internet celebrities when a video Nature Joe posted on facebook went viral with more than 20 million views, 100,000 likes and almost 500,000 shares. Check out the YouTube version of FrogTV to the right!

To survive, grow and prosper in non-profit ministry today, you must continue to try new things. We have been blessed this year by the addition of new activities, relationships and initiatives. In the spring we saw months of work accomplished in just a few short weeks by 2 groups who came to Streamside for the first time. Builders for God accomplished many projects including the extension of life for Spruces Cabin. AmeriCorps NCCC completed upgrades to the Nature Center, Bog Trail and Initiatives Course. Through a relationship with a nearby facility, we can now offer tree top adventures on a three bridge with zip-line descent high ropes course to our guest groups. Mole Run is currently under construction and when open will provide a year round tube slide. Through College@Camp, we can now offer our young people in leadership development the opportunity to begin college at Northampton Community College while living, growing and serving at Streamside.
