UPDATE: CANADA IN THE FIGHT AGAINST ISIS

CanadaNato

UPDATE

Yesterday Canada announced that Canada will not stand on the sidelines in the fight against ISIS (ISIL). Prime Minister Harper reported that he has recently received a request from President Barak Obama for assistance in the battle. The Prime Minister will be discussing the request with his cabinet this upcoming week. There is a chance that the issue could come to a vote in the House of Commons shortly thereafter, as per Parliamentary protocol.

Please continue to keep our leaders in prayer as they navigate decisions in these volatile times globally.

Update on Bill C-279, the "bathroom bill"

The discussion regarding Bill C-279, or the 'gender bill' as it's been nick-named is still on.

Quick Recap: The Bill was tabled by MP Randall Garrison in 2011. Click here to read more.

Critics have said that Bill C-279 could have a profound impact on the way boys and girls related to each other at school, especially in vulnerable places such as washrooms and change rooms. A recent article by LifeSiteNews explained that this concern has materialized.

A recent Lifesitenews article explained that when lobbying for their son to use the girls bathroom, "Parents allegedly told the principal that under the federal “gender identity” Bill C-279, along with the provincial “gender identity” Bill 33 (Toby’s Law), her child could not be discriminated against and must be allowed to use whatever washroom he chooses."

Many parents in the Toronto Catholic District School Board are gravely concerned about this situation and fear that expressing their just concerns will lead them before the Human Rights Tribunal.

What's even more disturbing is that Bill C-279 has not yet passed as an official law. It is still in review in the Senate.

Action Points:

1) Pray for Catholic schools to have wisdom to function according to their faith. Please also pray for godly wisdom to be imposed on members reviewing this bill in the Senate. Finally, pray for revival and awakening in Canada.

2) Call the Toronto District School Board's Communications Public Relations line to express your concerns 416-222-8282 ex. 5314

3) Email Justice Minister Peter McKay: mcu@justice.gc.ca and Prime Minister Stephen Harper: pm@pm.gc.ca to express your concerns regarding Bill C-279.

4) As a parent, write a short paragraph expressing your concerns to local newspapers showing the other side to this argument. We are seeking what's best for families and students on a whole.

Please express your concerns with love and wisdom when doing the above.

WeDayAlert

We Day is an exciting initiative lead by Free the Children to engage students 12 years old and up to participate in making the world a better place. This year We Day is in Toronto. Organizers have invited guest artist Big Sean, who is known for degrading women in his lyrics, to perform at the event.

Click here to read a Lifesitenews article reporting the story.

Please join us in voicing concern regarding Big Sean being presented as a role model to these youth.

Action Points:

1) Pray for God to promote and favour healthy initiatives (ministries, programs) that teach the next generation about godly values and healthy relationships.

2) Email We Day expressing your concerns about having a guest rapper whose songs portray woman as objects without any value. Public Relations: angie@freethechildren.com and Human Resources: rann@freethechildren.com

3) Tweet to Free The Children: @freethechildren I am disappointed to hear you're having a rapper perform at We Day Toronto who de-values women. #BrighterFuture

JOIN US IN THE FIGHT AGAINST EBOLA IN WEST AFRICA

LiberiaEbloa

From Faytene Grasseschi

It was my deep honour to spend some of my beginning years in Christian work in the back woods of West Africa, Liberia. The land, the people, and what God was doing there were all absolutely beautiful. Never in my life have I ever encountered a people who in the midst of profound struggle with things such as war, terror, hunger, disease and more had such joyful determination to overcome. I quickly fell in love with this nation and it's people. ... click here to read more ...
