VIETNAM

Ministry to limit the universities offering PhD training

The country has almost 100 universities that offer PhDs, but not many of them are "effective," Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son has said. Addressing a meeting on higher education held in HCMC Tuesday, he said 30-40% of the country's 240 universities have PhD programs, too high a number, which makes the quality "inconsistent." Utica, The Last Refuge Imagine living in a refugee camp in Ethiopia for six years and finding out, at long last, that you will be resettled in a small city in upstate NY. You know no one there. Utica: The Last Refuge follows the Azeins, a refugee family of four from Sudan, over the course of 2.5 years as they transition from isolation to being part of a larger community.
