The Gospel for this Sunday:

Matthew 4:12-23

Caught in the Net

Jesus begins his public ministry by calling fishers to leave their nets and follow him. In Jesus the kingdom of God has come near. We who have walked in darkness have seen a great light. We see this light most profoundly in the cross—as God suffers with us and all who are oppressed by sickness, sin, or evil. Light dawns for us as we gather around the word, the font, and the holy table. We are then sent to share the good news that others may be “caught” in the net of God’s grace and mercy.

The Ministry Evaluation Task Force (MET) Question of the Week

question-mark-2110767 1920

Thank you for your responses to the questions! It has been an effective way to get your input. This is our last “question of the week”.

For this week, please prayerfully consider and then reply to the following: “What do you feel is God's call for our ministry together at this time? Who are we (LELC) and why are we here?”

We encourage you to respond to last Sunday’s question if you haven’t had an opportunity: “Keeping in mind our mission and ministries, what staff do you believe will best serve the needs of Lake Edge Lutheran Church? Please comment on the number of pastors and the need for other types of professional staff.”

The question sheets will be available on Sunday. You may also submit your response via email to MET@lelc.org if you prefer or if you will not be present on Sunday. Your email is confidential.

Thank you to those of you who are recycling Styrofoam by putting it in the Styrofoam recycling containers. Please make sure any Styrofoam containers you put in are completely clean and free of any food residue. Styrofoam that is contaminated with food residue or anything else won’t be recycled. Recycle the Warmth blanket-stack

January 24-26, 2020

St. Vincent de Paul annually provides hundreds of needy people in Madison and its surrounding communities with good-quality, recycled and new blankets and bedding. Lake Edge is one of dozens of area churches that participate in this drive annually. All the bedding we collect or purchase during this drive will then be given away during the next twelve months to needy individuals and families who come to the Center for Vincentian Charity (2033 Fish Hatchery Road in Madison) seeking assistance from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Please bring your donations of new or gently used blankets and bedding during the month of January to church. There will be a RECYCLE THE WARMTH barrel located just outside of the nursery door. Questions: contact Anita Grue at anita51_98@yahoo.com or 608-698-0345.
