Waterside Tree Planting FLYER - Fall 2017

Join fellow land stewards and plant trees along the Monocacy River!

Next Saturday, November 11 9-11AM

Join us!

By 2030 Frederick County population is projected to be over 300,000, up from 250,000 today. Climate change will make for stronger storms, bigger floods and longer droughts. Protecting our streams, rivers and water quality is essential for us to have clean water. Planting trees is one way to do that.

FoFC's testifies to restore and protect the Monocacy River

On 10/18/17 Friends of Frederick County asked the Planning Commission to support the Monocacy River Management Plan

Our objectives tonight are to convince you, and hopefully some of the landowners here, that this is a good plan and should be adopted. The program here is a communal path to mutual prosperity by restoring not just a tremendous ecological resource, but our environment at large that provides our very life support. Clean water, clean air, and plants and animals are all things we can’t live without. A healthy Monocacy improves the quality of life for everyone who drinks from the River, fishes from it, or just wants to be on it. Once people begin to realize this, we sincerely hope a constructive, rational two-way dialogue can begin. It’s really about ALL of us.

Monrovia Town Center Agreement Nullified!

Since 2005 FoFC has been working to ensure adequate public facilities for all developments in Frederick County, Monrovia Town Center (MTC) is no exception. FoFC supported the founding of RALE - an organization that has done superb work on behalf of the citizens living in the Monrovia area. Finally after many years of research, writing, advocacy, public meetings, lawsuits, fundraising and anguish - Frederick County taxpayers heard a welcome outcome from our courts. Read about it here.
