"Beaujolais' glassy-toned vibes-playing is agile, fresh & inventive, but the arrangements - as well as the Beaujolais originals - are also very distinctive. The upshot is an album of considerable panache." The Guardian - Review of 'I'll See You Tonight'

"The vibraphone is capable of great tonal variety, from the tinkling of icicles to a warm, pulsating cloud of sound, and Roger Beaujolais deploys it all with consummate skill and delicacy." The Observer - Review of 'Sentimental'

"His solos have a relaxed and natural swing, and it is difficult to pick highlights when the quality of playing is so consistently high. Top drawer contemporary British jazz!" Jazzviews.com - Review of I'll See You Tonight

Being ranked amongst the world's great jazz vibraphone masters, Roger Beaujolais makes it look easy despite having only started learning - he is completely self-taught - at the advanced age of 24. After Roger's first performance aged 28 he never looked back and in the 32 years since has covered a lot of ground - playing jump/jive all over the world with the Chevalier Brothers with Ray Gelato with whom he played in over 15 countries on 3 continents and made many TV and radio appearances, as well as playing at all the major jazz festivals in Europe.

After that, Roger recorded four albums for Acid Jazz Records under the name of Vibraphonic & The Beaujolais Band and had a number 1 on the jazz charts in the USA before forming his acoustic quintet and his own record label. Roger has also recorded with Duffy, Rumer, Robert Plant, Roni Size, Guy Chambers, Omara Portuondo, Fairground Attraction, Morrissey, Paul Weller, Alison Limerick, Kirsty MacColl, 4 Hero, Neneh Cherry, Alexander O’Neal, Mary Coughlan, Graham Coxon and teaches jazz vibraphone at Trinity College of Music, London.

Robin Aspland - Piano
Simon Thorpe - Double Bass
Winston Clifford – Drums

Released 17 June 2013

“Mind The Gap is my first quartet album & has a wider set of influences than my previous quintet albums. I wanted to highlight the depth of musicianship & tastefulness of the musicians in my band by including some Brazilian influenced tunes, some more modern compositions as well as the usual influences from the days when swing & blues were essential ingredients in jazz.
