 | | Lions Weekly: July 20, 2022 | A Note From Mr. Sandefur Lion Family, We are officially two weeks from the start of the upcoming academic year, and excitement is building on campus. Our team is working diligently to finalize class lists, schedules, activities, and so much more in preparation for the return of our Lions to campus. We look forward to seeing each of you very soon! I hope and desire that you will join us this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Huskey Football Field on the campus of The King's Academy for our second annual Night of Worship and Prayer. We will gather in a student-led time of worship as we prepare for the upcoming school year. Members of our school community will lead us in a time of guided prayer as we pray for the beginning of our school year. We will conclude our evening with a guided prayer walk through our campus as we prepare our hearts for the upcoming school year. It is a true honor to partner with you as we seek to develop servant leaders that will change the world for Christ, and I count it a privilege to start the new academic year in prayer and corporate worship with our Lion Family. President | Night of Worship and Prayer Thursday, July 21 Make plans to join us tomorrow, Thursday, July 21st at 7:00 p.m. on TKA's Huskey Football Field. We will take some time to pray for the upcoming school year and participate in worship as we ask for the Lord's blessing. We are thankful for the members of local churches who are gathering with us in lifting up TKA to the Lord. All members of the TKA family are invited to join us as we gather together. This event will take place rain or shine. In the event of rain, a contingency plan will be communicated. We hope to see everyone on campus at our Night of Worship and Prayer! | Basketball Camp Rising 3rd - 8th students Next week is our last basketball camp of the summer! Don't miss out on this fun opportunity for your athlete to learn: individual instruction, Fundamental Skill stations, daily competitions, and games (1v1, 3v3, and 5v5). Dates: July 25-28

Location: Tibbetts | 2022-2023 Class Lists and Schedules Friday, July 29 As we prepare for the start of school, class lists and schedules are being put into place. All class lists and schedules will be released on Friday, July 29, on the FACTS family portal. A printed copy of this information will be provided at Meet The Teacher Night as well. | Sports Medicine Student Aid The King's Academy Sports Medicine Program, under the guidance of Ortho Tennessee, is looking for a few dedicated student aids to help our athletic trainer with some of the day-to-day activities surrounding our sports teams. Interested students would need to have an interest in the healthcare field, be in good academic standing, and display a servant's heart as found in 1 Peter 4:10. This fun and exciting opportunity will allow students to learn firsthand about sports first aid and CPR. Plus, they will have an opportunity to become part of the TKA Lions athletic culture. Service learning hours may apply. Students would need to be available for 7th-period athletics and after-school practices, as well as some games. TKA offices will return to normal Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. the week of Monday, July 25. | PTF Work Day Saturday, July 30 Bring your gardening tools and gloves and join us on campus, Saturday, July 30, from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for a work day to help get the TKA campus ready for school to start! As a reminder, the pink and light blue tops are no longer in the updated dress code. | Family Orientation Night Tuesday, August 2 Family Orientation Night will take place on Tuesday, August 2, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Students and families will have the opportunity to receive important paperwork, meet teachers, move in to lockers, and enjoy fellowship together. Food from local food trucks, Geno's Curbside Diner and Halfback BBQ and Smokehouse, will be available for purchase during this time for a time of fellowship with our Lion family. Proceeds will go to the PTF and be used for campus needs. | Back to School Bash Saturday, August 6 Middle and High School Back to School Bash will take place on Saturday, August 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Come out and enjoy a free concert by Rare of Breed, games and hangout time as we get ready for school to begin. Food trucks will have food, drinks, and snacks available for purchase prior to the concert. We hope to see all of our Middle and High School Students at this event! | 6th - 8th Washington D.C. All proceeds go back to the TKA Garden and Greenhouse for maintenance and upkeep. | 2022 Summer Camp Highlights TKA has offered a variety of camps over the summer ranging from athletics, fine arts, and fundamental educational skills. We have enjoyed seeing our Lions on campus throughout the summer. Take a look and see some of the fun from our summer camps. | PreK Camp Mrs. Daft had two weeks of PreK camp where PreK3 and PreK4 Lions learned letters, sounds, numbers, days of the week, and so much more! For some of these PreK students, it was their first time on campus! We are looking forward to a fun year with all of these Little Lions on campus. | Back to School Math Camp Mrs. Sasscer and Mrs. Ailor hosted our Back to School Math Camp for our rising 5th- 7th grade Lions. They read The Girl Who Never Makes Mistakes, played games, and used manipulatives to understand math concepts. They worked together to solve Mind Benders and other challenging problems. Mrs. Sasscer and Mrs. Ailor also took the students around campus to help the rising 6th graders learn where the middle school teachers are located. While on the tour, they found Mrs. Shannon's classroom and enlisted her help for a few math problems. | Fine Arts Camp TKA's 6th through 12th grade choir students have been on campus this week learning choreography, hearing from guest speakers, and getting a sneak peak at the script for Disney's Frozen, jr. If you have not heard, TKA's choral department will be presenting Disney's Frozen, jr. later this year! Be on the look out for more information.
