Sophia 2

WELCOME

Aspen Racquet Club is pleased to announce the hiring of a new teaching professional to our staff. We would like to welcome Sophia Geier.

Sophia is currently the assistant men’s and women’s coach at Kenyon College. Her duties are to organize, plan, and conduct practice sessions both in an out of season. She is responsible for improvement in all areas of the athletes lives.

Sophia came to the United States from Germany and played Division I tennis at the University of Akron. She was a 3-time ITA scholar athlete, team captain, and a two-time Mid American Conference “Player of the Year” at 1st singles.

Upon graduation she was a graduate assistant coach at the University of Akron, then worked for Cliff Drysdale Professional Tennis U in Texas, and then led the Junior Development programming at The Club of Glenmore in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Sophia brings an impressive resume to Aspen and is excited to work with players of all skill levels. She will be integrated into our various drills and private lessons as her current coaching duties begin to wind down. Welcome Sophia Geier to the Aspen family.

String

MARCH PRO SHOP PROMO

Our Pro Shop offers a variety of items for you or the tennis player in your home. Each month we will spotlight something we think is of great value.

KEEP IT FRESH

As a general rule, you should re-string your tennis racket each year as often as you play per week. If you play twice per week, you should restring your racket twice per year. All strings gradually stretch and lose their resiliency or go dead, even if you play infrequently.

Strings are just like players — they don’t perform at their best when they’re fatigued. When strings break down, they lose liveliness, produce a less dependable ball, and force the user, even unknowingly, to adjust swings to compensate.

The April Pro Shop Special will be $5.00 off all stringing jobs PLUS a FREE grip! Spring is a great time to tune up your racket with a fresh set of strings.

Cardio tennis helps you improve your skills while getting a great workout. Join us Fridays at noon.
