Summer Worship at 9:30 am

June 11, 2017: Holy Trinity

Icon4 Color 143 1

The Gospel for this Sunday is

Matthew 28:16-20; Click Here to Read.

Though the word trinity is not found in the scriptures, this week's second reading includes the apostolic greeting that begins the liturgy: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. In the gospel Jesus sends his disciples forth to baptize in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. More than a doctrine, the Trinity expresses the heart of our faith: we have experienced the God of creation made known in Jesus Christ and with us always through the Holy Spirit. We celebrate the mystery of the Holy Trinity in word and sacrament, as we profess the creed, and as we are sent into the world to bear witness to our faith.

At the recent congregational meeting, two special initiatives were approved to be funded through the gifts committee:
1) part time youth pastor for the next year
2) repair of the front rock wall and improving drainage near the front door to prevent water from reaching our elevator shaft and basement hallway.

The Gifts Committee will match donations to these projects. Please check the bulletin and June Dialogue for details about how you can contribute to these important initiatives.

As always, thank you for your support of these types of special initiatives through the gifts committee. Jim St. Vincent, Chairperson, Gifts Committee
