Food & Funds Drive Through April 7th

The Second Harvest Food Bank kicked off their annual Harvest for Hunger campaign, a food and funds drive that runs through April 7. Donations are typically down this time of year and everything collected helps stock the shelves of the Food Bank during the summer months. Common Ground is helping this important cause by hosting a Food & Funds Drive right here! We have a drop-off area for non-perishable food items and monetary donations in the Great Room on one half of our Library table. Every donation will help folks in our valley!

Game Night ~ SATURDAY at 6:00pm

Join in for a fun evening for all ages. Board games and laughter for everyone! Bring a snack to share and come ready for a good time. Can't wait to see you there!

Garden & Nursery News

Garden children will remain in Worship this week. Activity pages will be on the table by the Sanctuary doors. Children 3 & younger are invited to the Nursery for Bible story time.

There are only a few open Sundays on our Garden schedule that need a teacher. Are you interested? Prefer to spend time with our youngest church family members? Garden/Sprouts volunteers are also mightily appreciated! Let us know if you would like to serve in that way!

Youth Group

Last Sunday we focused on the themes of doubt and belief, looking at Thomas and Peter in the Bible. Of course, we also brought plenty of activities and games into the mix. As always, our kids had some good insights and great teamwork skills.

This Sunday we will not meet, but we'll be back on schedule the following week. It's hard to believe that we only have seven more meetings this school year!

Spring is on its Way!

Seeds planted by the Youth Group on March 3rd are already sprouting! Check them out upstairs. We are pretty excited to see the first plants coming up for our CSA program, the food pantries, and more.

This week brought some nice weather and we were able to be outside checking out the property and clearing away tree branches. We also spent time making bread, fixing lunch, researching trees for our soon-to-be orchard, cleaning, and more. On Monday we visited Whispering Pines and Sue Weaver went with us. If you would like to be a volunteer like Sue, let us know. Help is always appreciated!

Are You Ready for CSA Time?

We are now taking subscription orders. Pick up will be Thursdays, weekly or bi-weekly, over a period of 18 weeks. We will provide a variety of produce from early June to mid-October. Pay by April 30th to get the EARLY BIRD Price of $325, which equals $18.05 per week. After April 30th, the cost is $360 for a weekly share, which equals $20 per week. Or, do a bi-weekly share from mid-June to mid-October for $200, which equals $22.22 per week. Refer a friend who purchases a subscription, get $20 back! Limited number of shares, deadline May 27th.
Why CSA? Because your money stays right here, helping our program and you get fresh, local, sustainable produce weekly. It's a win-win!

GG Restaurant Fundraisers

Some area restaurants have programs that allow you to dine in and earn money for non-profit organizations. We have an event at BJ's on Wednesday, March 27 from 5-10pm and at Chipotle on Sunday, April 28 from 4-8pm. Grab a flyer (or several) from our GG table, share with your friends, and eat dinner out for a great cause and an easy way to help Goodness Grows earn money for our programs!

March 27th Flyer

BJ's Restaurant requires a printed flyer to be presented to the server in order for sales to benefit Goodness Grows. Print from here or stop by Common Ground to grab one...or more!

OUTREACH and MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

Coat & Clothing Drive

Ongoing Outreach/Mission Opportunity
Drop items off in the collection barrel or take them up to the Green Room, anytime throughout the year! Let your friends and family know that we accept donations year-round.

Hunger in Our Valley

Donations to our Food & Funds Drive will assist the Second Harvest Food Bank in helping many folks in our area. While helping those who struggle to make ends meet and put food on the table in our community, the Food Bank distributed over 10 million pounds of food to hunger-relief agencies in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties in 2018. These pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and after-school programs currently fulfill nearly 13,000 requests for food assistance each week. How can you help?

~~

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.

Matthew 25: 35-36, 40

~

What can YOU do?
